So far I have not had any shipments form LCdC incur additional fees. i did have a box opened and inspected, but that was the worst of it. Of course one man's experience is no guarantee and now that i said it out loud I am sure it will happen with the next order.

I really appreciate that...

My supplier for all my MB products is Appelboom! Joost is a fantastic person, and customer service is really second to none.

www.appelboom.com

And while they are international, FEDEX delivers their packages in a matter of 2-4 days.

Thanks for the suggestion. Seems cheaper, but after shipping, I think the difference in cost between there and a US store is not that far off.

I no longer own any fountain pens... Now they own me.

LCDC offers free international shipping, and I suppose Appelboom does as well.

I'm maintaining a comprehensive list of Iron-Gall inks. Contributions most welcome! bit.ly/irongall

They do, with a min. spend of €150 and €200 respectively.

For non MB purchases, Cult Pens spend is only £70 (€81).

Wheelers Luxury Goods is my Montblanc retailer of choice. Quite often do sales. Really helpful and quick delivery.

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Have you ordered ink though? Since MB pens don't come with ink they have not been a problem for me, but both times I ordered ink I had the delays and had to talk to FedEx and fill out the form. Because the value was relatively low I did not pay additional fees. As a result I now order ink from LCdC instead. They ship Dutch Post which is slower but no issues to date.

I am aware the experience of others may vary, but it was always an ink bottle that caused the issue for me. I have never order ink and a pen together so can't say how that might impact customs fees.

Funny thing i just ran into. What did you put on this idiotic TSCA form? Made the mistake of ordering ink from Appelboom, and naturally i was out of town when it was first snagged by Customs so i'm a few days into this idiocy of bureaucratic nonsense.

I ordered a pen and ink from LCDC...cleared US customs in less than 12 hours.

Direct quote from Dennis from LCDC in an email ...

Dear David,

That is no problem at all. We ship inks worldwide for over 10 years now and it has never been a problem for the US.

Well...I had no problem...and again it was a pen and ink combo.

Regards,

David

I can't recall. There were 2 options if I remember and one was basically an indication it is inert and not hazardous. You can Google the form or call FedEx.

The issue is with Appelboom as they use FedEx. LCdC is not a problem as they use Dutch post.

If your package contains ink: check positive certification

If your package contains NO ink: check negative certification

company name: must use N/A if this is personal order

certifier title: also N/A

Product description: fountain pen without ink, if just pen

if package contains ink, just say fountain pen (dye or pigment) ink

If your package is a mixed package, for example, your order a $8000 POA and a $5 ink. Sorry, you have to pay roughly 3%x8005 although US Customs only charge duty for ink (not POA) because Appelboom will not do itemized custom form for you. This is your talent tax.

Last Friday I ordered a 149 (my first) from LCDC. They said it was out of stock but expected this week. It'll be a week tomorrow. The waiting is tough.

They told me the pen would be arriving in stock in a week after my order. After nearly two weeks now, I wrote to ask about it and, again, they're telling me next week. Is there a 149 shortage or something?

Ink 'em if you got 'em!

My first order took 2-3 weeks was told 1 week. My second order one week later he said 3-4 weeks...the mothership might be having problems keeping up with demand. I don't care...as long as it comes. Plus Dennis has only asked me for money when he ships the pen. I know I sound calm however inside... :wallbash: :lticaptd:

Thanks. To the contrary, my card was charged almost immediately. I'm sure I'll get it, and I know LCDC is held in high regard, but still....

I do like LCdC, bust last time I ordered a pen that was listed as stock, they didn't actually have it in stock.

They needed to get it from Sailor Europe (in UK I think) and it took some additional time (2+ weeks).

Have heard that happen to others before.

LCdC is a great shop with a good selection and good prices but they can sometimes be a little slow. This hasn't stopped me from ordering from them, I just know to plan on things taking a little longer to arrive than what their website says.
