Sheaffer Legacy Heritage Discontinued?

Batman

Has the Legacy Heritage been discontinued or something? It doesn't show up on their website and it looks like a lot of online pen retailers don't carry them anymore.

Thanks,

Brad

It is difficult to determine what the new owners of Sheaffer are doing with that brand. It appears that Cross management is trying to protect Cross and is using Sheaffer as primarily a cash source with minimal reinvestment.

My hope is the current owners will realize Sheaffer is a valuable brand and either sell it, or give it its own management staff in competition with Cross.

I do like the Intensities, and Taranis is just stunning, but yeah my Legacy Heritage palladium deep cut fountain pen (stub) and ballpoint are just stunning and a pleasure to use.

I just received a confirmation from AT Cross that they no longer manufacture the Sheaffer Legacy. This is a true shame because the Legacy was the only pen in Sheaffer's line up that had some semblance of Sheaffer's past. The Legacy was truly the last vestige of Sheaffer as a pen company. Present day Sheaffer is nothing more than re-badged promo pens.

Worse what's happened to Sheaffer than what's happened to Parker. At Parker they at least somewhat still try...

I don't think Parker is nearly as bad as Sheaffer. Parker's brand has a very strong presence in Asia, and like you said they are trying, which is more than we can ask for.

and Parker has a long and illustrious past. The nib selection of yesteryear is amazing.

At present, IMO, both brands are in a similar situation. Variety and pricing is similar.

Both have a single flagship, Duofold vs Legacy Heritage.

Apart from the flagships, both brands have a fairly dull range.

Parker could offer nib options as a USP on the lower models, which could help sales.

I have heard good things about the new Parkers.

The expensive ones, that is.

With the Legacy Heritage gone, I believe that means there are no Sheaffer fountain pens with other than steel nibs. How sad a comedown is that? I look at the pen catalogs and there are all kinds of cool special editions, new products, etc., from other companies, but the same old ever-cheapening products from what's doing business as Sheaffer these days. There is much that could be done with the Sheaffer name, but Cross seems intent on stripping it of all its former cachet with completely dull products. Meanwhile, the Cross brand they love so much has always had ZERO cachet and NO interest from pen people!

Yes and that is quite pityful :( :crybaby:

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
