Is My Pen Fake?

I recently bought this cross Townsend medalist from Amazon-https://www.amazon.in/gp/aw/d/B000EWS01U/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nib is stamped with 14k and 585. I think Townsend medalist is fitted with steel nib,and all other gold nibbed Townsends are fitted with gold nib. So...can you please tell me whether my pen is fake or not. Thank you. I have tried taking with my phone, but it is more than allowed size

It's hard to tell from just a picture, but I have a hard time imagining why someone would fake a Townsend Medalist FP. They're not worth enough to justify the effort involved. Nibs are so easily switched out that a discrepancy there doesn't really raise any red flags for me either. I'd imagine what you have is genuine.

If it would help set your mind at ease, unscrew the nib unit from the barrel. Somewhere on the nib unit there should be a code of (if memory serves) 4 or 9 numbers. If you find those and post them here, I can tell you whether they match the code number format of the Townsends in my collection.

That's similar to the codes on many of my Townsends. Based on what you've told me, I think you have a genuine pen.
