Nib Id

About 30 yrs ago I purchased a Monte Blanc pen. I discarded all information, about this pen, and am beginning to gain an interest into fountain pens. All I know is that it is a Monte Blanc Meisterstuck with the NIB markings 4810 (height of the mountain), 14K (self explanatory), Monte Blanc, 585 (585 parts per 1000 pure gold). No where do I see if it is a Fine, Medium, Broad... tip. Is there a way to find out what the tip is?

If you can show a pic of the nib I'll bet some of the folks here could give you a good guess by the shape of the tip. Add a writing sample if you can. and welcome! :W2FPN:

Looks like a 144 with a medium nib

Thank you for your response. I felt that it was around the medium area. Does the 144 have any meaning?

Is the medium nib of a MB a little broader than the medium of other pens? I find that the letters appear to be slightly broader than the medium on my other pens.

Yes, generally speaking Montblancs write a little broader in any given size designation than most European and American pens (and much broader than Japanese pens.)
