Montblanc Meisterstuck Ballpoint Twist Mechanism

Hi

I have a very old Meisterstuck ballpoint and the twist mechanism is a little squeaky. Any suggestions as to what I can apply to the threads/twist mechanism to lubricate, that won't damage or discolor the resin ?

Thanks.

Hi sabba

Firstly, welcome to FPN.

I note from your very first post in another forum, that did not receive any replies, that it is a Classique ballpoint you have. I too have one of these, though it has never squeaked, yet.

I also have a Generation that was accidentally put into the washing machine with the results one might expect. It was thoroughly clogged with ink from the refill that hadn't escaped onto the clothes. I wont go into the details of how I dismantled it and cleaned it, but it has the same, or a variant of, the twist mechanism used in the Classique. The mechanism cannot be dismantled further, it seems to me.

For the Classique you will need to remove the cone to be able to access the mechanism. It screws into the rear end of the twist mechanism with a brass screw that is only about 2mm in diameter, so be careful. You might need some rubber sheet to be able to grip it sufficiently to unscrew it. The mechanism then simply pushes, or falls, out.

If a refill has leaked ink then 10% ammonia in water will shift it - followed by copious amounts of rinsing and then allow to dry.

Check the mechanism on its own to make sure that is what is squeaking.

A little silicone grease or vaseline (petroleum jelly) applied to the slot in mechanism and worked back and forth might find its way to the 'squeaky spot' else you will have to use something more penetrating like a spot of silicone oil. Remove any excess.

Hope this helps.

You don't know what you need until you realise you haven't got it.

Thanks. I believe you are the most closed to my problem. "Slot working back and forth". Any idea how to remove the twisting black plastic top? IMG_20250207_174715.thumb.jpg.60428d611223c9225d51148d4a7cb93c.jpg
