Mb Stainless Steel Rollerball Help

I have never seen this type of inner or outer box. The card inside has a printed date 08/89. I bought of the "bay" and the seller has 1,500 all positive feedback. The pen got many, many bids so I was assuming everyone else thought is was legit that is why they were bidding. The serial number on the clip band says: EX1984300 and it does say GERMANY on the other side of the clip. Under the clip it says Pix. Is this the 23163 model?

I wanted a rollerball pen so I could also use the fineliner refill and put in my pocket and not have to worry about the resin cracking when sitting down.

What are your thoughts?

I have seen hard cases like that before, also from the 80s, so that's not an issue. The serial number 'appears' a little rough, but that could just be the photograph, it would help to see it completely dismantled, impossible to say with any certainty, but so far it seems OK.

Others will soon chip in.

Above I posted a photo of it disassembled.... I am using an iPhone X and it is kinda hard to get a good clear pic of the serial number....

I was able to look up online older cases and I did find numerous pictures of the exact case my one came in.

There's nothing wrong with the box, that's authentic and from the 1980's. I can't see anything about the pen that suggests fake if that's what you're asking, although it seemed like you were more concerned about the box.

If an authentic Montblanc fineliner refill fits then then's no doubt about authenticity.

"Putting it into your pocket and not worrying about the resin cracking when you sit down" isn't as much of an issue with the steel pen. However, it will definitely bend or squash if you sit down on it, as would any metal pen.

Thank you for the reply. I was actually asking about the pens authenticity, but when I saw the box that threw me off a bit also. I took a brand new fineliner and it screwed right into the tip section.

This forum is great with all the knowledgeable people!!! Thank you again!

Thanks for the extra pics, and it seems fine to me. Chrissy has a good eye and if it doesn't scream fake to her then that's good.

It's Ok to be thrown by the case/box. Sometimes the box is an obvious fake which should suggest you need to take a close look at the pen. Sometimes people with genuine MBs buy empty cases thinking that it will help to sell their pen, but the case they buy might be a fake and that can confuse buyers.

Put it in your shirt pocket, hang it round your neck, anywhere except in your jeans'/trouser pockets
