Homage To Homer Thread

I'm more than happy to let all those in a rush beta test the new releases for me. Then I can pick and choose at my leisure from the models proven to be excellent writing tools since I'm buying pens to write with. After all, how many of us are now enjoying the 50-60 year old presentation pieces and collectibles of clueless generations before us? :bunny01:

VIP status simply equals buying multiple artisanal pieces at full retail or be an unpaid blogger who is paid in kind .. MB is a corporation that wishes to make most money and they like spendthrift buyers who take pride in not worrying about finding deals. Let the VIP guests buy everything in M nib lol. I would much rather buy it through a dealer at 40 discount or even better, auctions at 50-55 off ..

I really don't know why Montblanc gives those images and organizes events if they don't want the pens leaked. It will happen for sure, every time. They should only do events and/or send official medias at the moment they want to announce the pen.

I think they want control over how their creations appear in the public sphere. First impressions are important to the MB marketing team.

I 100% understand this. But, unless they make people sign non-disclosure agreements, it will leak to the public for sure.

I took my Homer home today. I would like to say the design is so creative yet feel comfortable in hand. Not mention the Homer is a 149 size pen. I prefer the one-piece design concept like the earlier WE. The higher version with champagne golden metal and brick color resin also looks delicate but a little too bling for me and beyond my budget. At first I intended to change the nib to OB, but as a daily writer I may keep the original M nib this time.

Mjchuang9— when you say 149 size pen do you also mean the nib size is that of a 149. So a #8 nib. Or is it your typical 146 size ?

I stopped by the Tysons Boutique, outside of Washington, DC, and they do not have the pens on hand (except for a wrapped box set). So, I was not able to see or handle the pens yet; maybe next weekend.

The nib size is that of a 149. The Homer is the third 149 nib size WE.

ahhh...didnt know about the Dumas.

The Dumas is quite "cheap" compared to all the other ones...found a full set (bullpen, pencil, fp) for 1.800 Euros

The old WE dont have a fancy limited version, correct?

I mean for example the Homer is either black or orange...and the orange is way more expnesive

The higher version is from 2015 Tolstoy writers edition. The writers edition is made for "the general public" originally, I don't think it is a good idea to have a luxury version.

in regards to the Homer, I prefer the black version.

Even though it's not my taste...if I had to chose it would be the black one ;)

It is all about finding new ways to sell more products IMO. If they stop making the LE, the previous years prices would skyrocket.

The higher version of Exupery and Homer are both good in design in my opinion and only produced in about 1500. MB believe that they will eventually sell out. I am just not used to seeing such a high price WE.

Wake me up when they release the Montblanc Charles Manson. Can't imagine how else they're going to beat the Homer's ugliness.

And now for something a little different: the Homer WE.

I like Montblanc breaking the mold and surprising me with this design.

It is. I couldnt make it down to my AD to purchase or look at the pen, but its disappointing to see nothing at all online.
