Montblanc Jfk Thoughts

Hello!

I am wondering about the MontBlanc JFK Great Characters edition pen. I really like the look of the new burgundy edition, I am just wondering if anyone has it yet and what they think of it. If anyone has the original model I am also at that as well. Is there any problems with the design, would you recommend it, etc. Some pictures would be great as well if any one could take some, that would be great and much appreciated.

Thank you,

Just on a bit of a side note, what MontBlanc pens would you recommend at this price range? It's a big investment for me so I want to get the pest pen for my money.

Thanks,

They are all pretty special. But this one appeals to you!!!

Have you handled the pen?

What nib size are you looking for?

My personal favourite is the heritage 1912.

Have you visited this site? The fountain pen hospital is a store in New York that also sells online. They are announcing the JFK for mid-May delivery.

Hello Meiers,

Thank you for the quick response! I havent handled the pen, unfortunately I doubt that I would be able to either before purchasing. My local MB shop is quite small and seems to order in MB pens at random. They recently got a Heritage 1912 rollerball, Marilyn Monroe and the Beatles. This is something that worries me about the pen, that I wont like how it feels. I have a 146 that I love and I bought the 1912 rollerball. I really like both their sizes. I am leaning towards an EF nib if that is available.

Touching and handling the pen is important, I agree.

I suggest talking with the people at the fountain pen hospital. Ask about their return policy. It might address your concern.

I had the JFK ball pen and I can attest to it's exquisite build quality. It absolutely must be tried and handled. I have felt few pens of that level of quality, but then for £1500 I'd expect nothing less.

A future MB classic to be sure.

I saw and purchased the new Burgundy JFK today at my local boutique. The original version did not appeal to me for a few reasons: namely it was yet another dark pen with silver accents, and it had the initials on the clip.

The burgundy one spoke to me instantly. I don't have it in hand for photos as I had them send it out for a nib exchange to an OBB. The color combo really spoke to me. I purchased it so fast even my boutique manager stopped me to ensure I was satisfied. The champagne color accents mix very well with the pen and it looks elegant to me. It's also a light pen and I can see myself using it for longer sessions. I can't wait to get it back with the wider nib! I think the nib also had some engravings but I didn't really look long enough to notice. Lastly, the initials on the clip blended well with the new colors and I was no put off by it at all.

I also bought another 149, the Beatles ink, Petite Prince ink, and another notebook. In and out within 15 minutes!!! It was practically a drive by. Hahahaha.

MB's favorite kind of drive by. You hand over all your money and get to keep a few items in return. That way they can quickly refocus on selling belts and watches! ;)

If you want less blah, blah, blah and more pictures, follow me on Instagram!

The engravings on the nib represents the lunar model of the Apollo mission of 1969 as on the first version of the pen in blue.

Hello 888007888,

I'd love to get your first hand experiences with your new Burgundy JFK, maybe some pictures too if you could, when you get it back. That would be great!

Thanks,

Field Marshal

A few years ago the FPN website changed and I haven't figured out how to post photos after that change. Once I receive the burgundy pen back, I'll try to post photos using my computer instead of my phone.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
