Visconti Dreamtouch Pen Case - Not Loving The New Design

I just got a new Visconti pen case, for twelve pens and I'm dissapointed. The metal V logo was replaced with a stamped V with Visconti text on top and there is no stamp on the back. I don't know what kind of leather this is; "leather" seems like a loose term so it's probably not genuine leather. It still has the same black velvet like material inside and the zipper with the logo stamped.

I'm curious to know if this the new model of the dreamtouch case and if any of you new owners received the same.

I got it from a known online store so I doubt that this is not an original Visconti, but I don't know if it's a keeper.

EDIT: for some reason, the pic that I attached/pasted is not showing up

I also just received this "new version" of the case. I'm also a little unsure about the exterior material. It's pretty soft, but out of the box it seems to have a more "creased" appearance at the fold than the online pictures would suggest. I once had a cheapish wallet that felt similar, but that fell apart after a year of use -- I'm not sure if it's the same material or not.

I wonder if a side-by-side comparison with the old version would show any other differences.

Personally, the case seems fine enough for me to not return, but it would have been nice to have the original metal V and a product version that has definitely been reviewed well by others. I would be interested to hear other thoughts.

Sorry -- I was on my phone earlier and forgot to come back with pictures!

Also, I noticed that areas near some of the edge seams weren't exactly what I would have expected from Visconti:

(and another, but I ran out of upload space).

Some general scuffs upon receiving:

I'm not picky about cases or even included scuffs and the such since I entirely expect to put them through some wear/tear in the future, but for the price I might have expected a little higher QC from Visconti. I just wonder if the general quality of these cases has gone down, OR I could have received a lemon. I might contact customer care and see if it would be worth getting it replaced.

Update:

I actually contacted customer care and sent the case (pictured above) back. The replacement I just received actually happened to be the other version (with the metal V) and it looks and feels to be vastly higher quality (hopefully this isn't too biased, since it isn't a direct side-by-side comparison). The entire case feels sturdier/less squishy, the zipper feels like it's of higher quality (with a "tighter" feel to it), the internal material surface feels finer and perhaps with a cleaner appearance, and the "crease" on the fold doesn't look stressed. I also didn't find similar scuffs/tears/cuts on this new case.

Most surprisingly, the item I just received doesn't have a strong chemical smell like the first case -- I'm not sure if this has to do with the actual ages of the cases, or if it directly relates to the materials from which they are made.

Hopefully Visconti fixes this problem soon.

That's a bummer at the quality. Have you contacted them?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
