So it seems that Edison Pens no longer works with this material. The look of this material is so gorgeous! Does anyone know where I might find an Edison pen made of ivory celluloid?

Thanks so much for your reply! Yes, he mentioned the acrylic to me too, but it just doesnt have the eye candy appeal for me that the celluloid with the stripes has. Thanks for the links. It was good to see the material.

There are several "ivory" substitutes with convincing schreger lines for the casual onlooker that I have seen. He sourced his celluloid from American Art Plastics, whose website is down, or the company died. I have a rod of this material saved for a rainy day, but I have been eyeing some from masecraft's Alternative Ivory, as it looks convincing in photos.

I found the Masecraft website too. It does look beautiful! They claim their material is used as an ivory substitute by museums and other organizations that are doing preservation work. One review says it is prone to fracturing on a lathe though?

There is also Penn State Industries who sell what looks like the same ivory substitute (?) without a minimum order. Im tempted to buy some, but waiting to hear from Brian to see if he would work with customer supplied materials.
