Do All Carene's Leak?

Shannon

Recommended Posts

Mine leaked from the right side of the nib first then from the breather hole on the bottom of the pen. It was a mess. Don't use it anymore. First pen I bought strictly for the aesthetics. Bad idea!

I suggest a converter or cartridge seating problem.

If the section isn't full, and it is a slow or non starter, will just a filling fix it?

Ensuring the section is full, then yes.

Back to the topic,

Anyway, if a pen were that bad you would not be promoting it...post #60

I think so, at least it should, if you put your nib and beather hole in the ink bottle to fill your converter and don't just fill the converter and then install it. The first way should make sure there is ink in the feed.

That feed holds the same amount of ink as a cartridge or converter. Once primed, it will flow beautifully for ages. But you need to fill it to prime it for action.

Remember, these aren’t designed for changing ink colors every few minutes. They’re made to write all day, every day.

Both me and my wife have one ... (both F nibs)

no leaks from the nib, My wife carries her in her purse, so sometimes there are some drops of ink in the barrel on the convertor. But nothing problematic. (probably from dropping her purse)

Mine had a lot of airborne time lately, and no leaks in the plane either (I did store it nib side up). Even did a lot of writing on the plane, and it just felt a bit wetter than normal.

I do notice much smoother performance with waterman ink than with diamine ink, but apart from that, no complaints.

There should be no ink inside the barrel, even from a purse drop :( Check out the converter and ensure it's pushed hard home.

Waterman ink is good...especially in Waterman pens :D

I think my budget has leaked funds on these pens.

  • 3 weeks later...

My second Carene amber arrived today. Has broad nib which sadly is barely any broader than my medium.

Fill pen, go to important appointment, pull cap off to take notes, have hands covered in tsuyu-kusa.

Ca was full of ink. So in my limited experience 50% dump ink into the cap.

Was the Broad nibbed pen new or s/h.

Did you use the converter that came with it. If so or no what version converter have you used.

Have you checked the converter for leaks.

Was the converter installed fully.

Do you use t-k in the medium.

I have found Carene Broads (L) vary quite a bit. I have had them with very little tipping and some with shed loads.

I always like showing this one.

There's a Carene listed on the bay and the seller is rumourmongering. He/she would not make a good salesperson.

I have but one Carene, a Deluxe in blue with a B nib (as Force's). Never an issue with leaks, very reliable writer even if only used occasionally. I really only 'need' one of these but I'm pleased I have it.

A 100% non leaker :yikes: are you sure, not even just a drizzle :puddle:

I've had the pen 4-5 years and I can't recall an instance of ink where it wasn't supposed to be.

Same for me: one Carène Deluxe (Prussian Blue), zero leaks.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
