Can we also list non-existen (yet) bottles?

Remember that lightbulb/potion bottle inkwell TWSBI was working on a few years ago?

I would definitely buy one of those.

I've never seen one in person, but I'd have to say the old vase bottles from Sailor. Of bottles I have seen, I'll jump on the Akkerman bandwagon.

Yet another Sarah.

I would choose the Lamy ink bottle for their practicality as they allow the last drops of the ink to be accessed, as well as having a mouth that is actually wide enough to fit most pens in. Diamine and others need to take note.

OK ... there were now several mentions of the Lamy. Did they start adding an ink cone recently or otherwise redesign the bottle? Because my 3 year old bottle definitely doesn't have one and having a wide flat bottom, it will not be easy to get to the last of the ink.

Those Lamy bottles do look neat, especially with that puddle bump at the bottom. ...but do they have refills for the paper that comes with them?

If it isn't too bright for you, it isn't bright enough for me.

Did yours come with blotting paper on the bottom?

Y'know ... I'll just hide in a corner now. Feel free to make fun of me :D

All these years and never noticed what the bottle *really* looked like with the plastic blotter holder removed. With the ink level still relatively high, I never had to dip into it very deep, so I just assumed it was flat.

I have never found the Akkerman bottles good. I know, I know, everybody loves the heck out of them because they're so cute. I have both sizes and none of them is as easy to use as any other bottle on earth (yes, extremism on purpose) especially if I try to get the last drop or two out with a pipette tip or a syringe (with or without the needle).

Really, I didn't know either that the bottle had a blister on the bottom just for the purpose of getting the last of the ink out until I saw this video.

I also didn't know that it had blotting paper until just over a month or so ago. That's actually part of my reason for this thread.

Sadly, I was hoping TWSBI had an ink but it appears they don't. I like their bottle and was hoping their ink would give me an excuse to try to get it. :D

That does sound like a simpler design like I would like, although I bet it probably wound up being the diamond bottle, or was scrapped because it resembles their current one too closely.

That's great K.

What you want to do next is see how many of the Lamy bottles you can keep spinning at the same time. ;)

If only one bottle for me it would have to be the Pilot Iroshizuku for its functionality, weight and overall classiness and the great inks that come in them are a plus. But for cool factor I would have to get on board with others and choose Akkerman.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
