Lamy In Brussels And London

Recommended Posts

Hello Friends,

I am travelling to London (and Rye) and Brussels next week. I have long ago given up hope of the big pen find in my travels, but, I know the ever ubiquitous Lamy maybe had at department stores and other places. Is there anywhere folks can recommend in those cities that are particularly good stockists of Lamy? I am always on the hunt for the ever illusive OB steel nibs.

Thanks,

Josh

There is a chain of pen shops called the Pen Shop and they are throughout London

https://www.penshop.co.uk/store-locator/

They will all carry Lamy pens and a few others, one of the busiest branches is at Leadenhall Market which is close to Lloyds, that area is worth seeing anyway. It is in the City which is on the eastern side of London, not sure where you are going to be.

You may struggle to find your elusive OB nib however.

If you are in the West End then have a look at Selfridges, they have a reasonable pen range.

Are you aware that the London Pen Show is on October 1? Does that fit with your plans?

Cannot help you as regards Brussels but this question was asked in 2010, probably still holds true.

Thank you, I will be in Notting Hill. I have been to Pen Shop closer to Trafalgar Square. Unfortunately, I will be in Brussels for the London Pen Show.

You may want to go to Selfridges department store instead, 20 minutes by tube from Holland Park to New Oxford Street

There is a good website for planning your journeys around London.

Hi Josh,

You might be able to visit the "Belgian Penshow" which takes place in Brussels on 28 and 29 September. Both vintage and modern pens will be available.

Conid is also participating

Hope to see you there !

Francis

For Brussels if you are there weekdays, you might try Papeterie du Parc Leopold for the Lamys; also, Casi One on Bd Adolphe Max probably has them. Both of those shops sell Caran d'Ache as well and PdPL sells Graf von Faber as well and iirc Visconti. Not sure about the OB nibs though.

If you're in Notting Hill on Saturday morning, you're very near Henry Simpole's booth at Portobello Market - Admiral Vernon Arcade, Portobello Road. Well worth a look!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
