The nearest ink I have to this is Blackstone Barrier Reef Blue - only with less shading and much less sheen.

Love your ramblings, Tas. More, please!

This ink looks cool, but I think I'm happy enough with Barrier Reef.

Thank you. I have Stipula Safron to do ramble on about soon . . .

Thank you for your ramblings!

After seeing a post here recently about a new ink from Organics Studio, Walden Pond which exhibited sheen beyond anything I have ever seen (a sample sent to a friend & he replied, "it ALMOST has too much sheen!) I believe Mr. Thompson has discovered the "pot of sheen" @ the end of the rainbow, when I see your example of this Royal Blue & the recent Walden Pond.

Whatever he is doing, it is surely "good stuff," & I am inspired to try it all!

I also appreciated your Sapphron ramblings; I have enjoyed this ink for a long time, it may have been the first Stipula ink I purchased & I plan to fill a pen soon to share your ramblings inspired excitement. Thank you, again, these are appreciated.

I really like your ramblings - great format! They show off the presented inks really well - in writing and drawing. Love it!

This blue is not bad, and I really like that red sheen. Reminds me of Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite which also has a serious sheen.

I haven't gotten my bottle of Tanzanite to sheen (but then, I've mostly run it through an M405 with an EF nib). But OS Royal Blue does remind me a bit of Diamine Oxford Blue.

So where is this ink to be had? Because it definitely is going to get added to my short list....

ETA: Thanks for the review -- and, well, not....

My Tanzanite sheens but subtly so (EF nibs too).

I've not seen Oxford blue in the flesh so will keep schtum.

No idea where to get hold of this. Perhaps try Chris at Pensavings. He sent me the sample and might be " connected.

You're welcome :)

Not sure what Mr. Thompson has discovered... as one who was burned bad by the amount of bottles that either lost their colour or went totally bad.. (SITB)... I will reserve my opinion until at least a year (or two).. None of my previous bottles lasted more than a year.

I have more failed inks form this brand, than from Noodlers, Private Reserve and JHerbin combined.

Buyer Beware!!

:(

So sorry to hear that.

I sympathise.

My lovely Blue Merle turned plain grey and another sample kindly sent to me by white_lotus also went grey.

However, I'm aware that in life, I've changed (I feel for the better) and I find that lately, I'm giving people a chance, an ear and an eye to newly discover who they are.

. . . I'm not suggesting anyone do that too but I feel better for doing so

But yes, great advice, buyer beware. :)

Oh Tas.. you know me... I do give inks a chance. I think I gave Organic Studio between 45 to 50 chances... maybe more.

I did get a bottle of this ink (My original bottle of Nitrogen had no sheen at all)... and I will agree, is impressive sheen. This is my "control" bottle. Will check from time to time.

BTW... I have sheen pics of Barrier Reef Blue showing the same amount of Sheen as this OS. My older bottle (maybe 4 years old).. I will guess it has lost some water through evaporation, so the ink is more concentrated. ;)

I do indeed know your kindness first hand . . . and your generosity is humungous  - 45- 50 chances goes waaaay beyond being reasonable. :yikes: Unbelievable

I am so so sorry for you and completely and utterly understand where you're coming from.

I think Tanzanite had changed to not sheen. My bottle won't sheen even on a splatter.

1. I love your ramblings.

2. I love the colour.

3. I don't like the sheen.

4. I can imagine not buying it at all because it might just conk out anyways... remember our good ol' Blue Merle?

And I thought that the company OS folded.............................

  • 5 months later...

I've been a fan of Organic Studios since they started. My understanding is that it was started by a young man in college and production was erratic until he graduated just a few years ago. ... I love Manganese Blue Black (originally called Carbon I believe) and was really happy when it became available again.

I was disappointed when Blue merle was changed to more of a straight-up grey, but none of my OS inks have ever changed color or developed mold after the bottle was opened.

O.S. only recently began producing ink in significant volume and diverse colors, now marketed into several series. And they do seem to have discovered some magic-their new sheening inks have to be experienced to be believed!!The colors are stunningly beautiful and in my experience the inks are well behaved.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
