I have been shopping online for a Dark Lilac safari. There are several ebay sellers who are located in Hong Kong or china who have them listed for around $21-$22 with free shipping. I'm just wondering whether anyone knows if these are legitimate? It seems like a pretty low price for a limited edition pen that is no longer available. Don't get me wrong, I would love to get one at that price, but I don't want to spend even that much for a fake. Thanks for any information you might have.

I don't know for sure because I have never bought one from China. However, I would not expect them to be authentic because I know that fake Safaris regularly come from China. :(

Goulet or Jet or Goldspot or Denver or Fahrneys. Buy from real pen people who are part of our community. You will never regret those purchases.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

Goldspot (as of this evening, July 26) still had a few still in stock. I didn't think their prices were all that great (seemingly a bit more than I expect for list price on a Safari), but if you're hellbent on getting a Dark Lilac, the prices weren't HORRIBLE.

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

      There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

      Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

      Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
