Nemosine Blue Snowball Nebula Twinkle

I ordered a sample of Nemosine's new Blue Snowball Nebula Twinkle from Goulet to try out. My first impression was that there is a scary amount of glitter in even the small sample vial. I wouldn't put it into a pen I was scared to dismantle for cleaning. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't show it well.

Sticking with the brand, I loaded it up in a Nemosine Singularity with an 0.8mm stub and made it a part of my daily carry kit for several days. The ink is sparkly. Even on cheap paper, if you look at it right, it shows up. Carrying my pen nib up resulted in a visible ring of glitter around the piston. I recommend agitating the ink before you write (with due care, of course).

Surprisingly, the feed didn't seem to suffer at all. I disassembled the pen after a good flush and didn't notice any particulates, and there was no hard start or skipping with this ink.

This ink has minimal water resistance, and seems to do best on paper that doesn't quickly absorb it (for the sparkly effect, you want the sparkles to stay on top of the paper). On normal paper, it dries well. It's not the smoothest ink, which I attribute to the glitter.

It is too bad the the sprinkles don't really show up on my computer screen. It looks like an ordinary blue-black that's not terribly interesting, but I think that just must be my screen. Certainly the name of the ink suggests that it is different and interesting.

Thanks for the review!

Unfortunately, it's not the best picture. The ink actually comes out more of a blue-grey, and looks very nice.

Thanks for the review.

in a bit of synchronicity, I just bought a bottle of this a couple of hours ago at Birmingham Pens in Pittsburgh. It's an interesting ink -- goes down a very dark indigo purple (think Noodler's Kung Te Cheng) but dries a much lighter grayish blue, with a bit of red sheen to go with the silvery-blue particles.

Supposedly the dust particles are much smaller than with that in brands, so there isn't supposed to be a lot of issues with clogging, and I was told that the particles also stay in suspension longer.

Other than dip testing the ink in the store, I haven't had a chance to try it yet. But it's definitely different.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I've had it in a singularity 0.6 stub for a week and a half now, no stoppage problems whatsoever. The ink is a dark blue/black that also has some dramatic red sheen on a wet nib.

Shimmer pooling isn't as dramatic as it is in the J. herbin 1670's or diamine shimmertastics. I haven't opened my coalsack nebula bottle yet though, I'll test those two together most likely.

I'll do a full review soon as I get through the entire collection.

I bought this from Goulet pens as my 1st/2nd fountain pen ink. Not knowing fountain pens needed "taking care of". But I got scared by the amount of glitter, so after it settled out, I took the ink syringe and took the ink part out and added it to another portion of ink, making a 1:2 dilution where there was half the amount of glitter in it.

I thought, this would take care of the problem with it clogging up feed, I had no issues yet using it in the Noodler Charlie pen. What I was surprised with is that since I put twice as much "blue" ink into it, I thought the ink would be more blue than the original color. It isn't, it is now a silver glitter ink. It looks very nice too.

edit: if there is something I can do to add to the review, let me know... but I only have the single Charlie pen and this ink and Noodler's Heart of Darkness so... I can't make much of a comparison. No experience with anything else so I can't tell how it writes except that it isn't any different than Heart of Darkness to me.

here's a static example of it being silver

I’m glad you all had good luck with this ink. I only have a sample, and used it in my Singularity with 0.8mm stub nib. It wrote well the first time, then it didn’t. I rinsed the nib and dried it, and still did not write.

After cleaning the pen is fine. Some day that ink sample will get another try, since there are good reports here.

I got the coral Singularity recently, which inspired me to fill the two demonstrator Singularity pens. They were all filled from samples of Nemosine ink. I can’t say I’ve ever been especially drawn to blue black, but the Pleiades ink is a pleasing tone. I did buy a bottle of Alpha Centauri when I ordered the Coral version from the Nemosine website.

If you're still looking. I still got my bottle. I haven't really used it outside of the few mL that I took out for the experiment I did above. Shimmering ink isn't for me, I just didn't know when I bought the bottle.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
