Here's the deal.....

I'll send you an envelope with 25 sheets of TR paper. The sheets are about 70 mm x 91 mm. In return you must participate in the Ink a Week project by contributing a CRV. Click on the links to learn about CRVs or the Ink a Week Project.

This PIF will be open to the first five who agree, just send PM me your full name and address.

I may decide to send more.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

This is somewhat off-topic, but within the last 30 minutes or so I've been writing a couple of short notes to friends. What have I been writing on, you ask? The cute little Tomoe sheets I bought from your daughter at the LA Pen Show! I take a little extra time to make a small envelope, but it's a nice relaxing thing to do... when I have a spare moment.

Ok, on with the thread, just wanted to say thanks and hi!

Looks fun (the CRV!) and I am expecting a notebook with tomoe river and would love to get to practice my pens and inks before committing to one for the notebook! Sending pm!

Hi Amber,

I haven't done a CRV in a while but if you are serious about the 25 sheets (!) of TR then I can do another review or two. I do have some other pens in rotation than before, but mostly the same inks (but I did not show all the inks I had then anyway.)

I think you have my address from before; if not please PM me.

Thanks,

J

Awesome. That's five. I look forward to seeing the CRVs. These are sheets that my daughter created and sold at the pen show. She has her own pen habit.

I'm slow but I am trainable. I have never quite understood what CRV meant. I just found out. Every time I see the abbreviation, CRV in a thread the only thing that comes to mind is Honda. If I can get motivated I will participate. I don't need any paper. I already have too much

So, a couple of you asked about the blue paper..... here is the rest of the story.

A few years ago, I ordered in a huge amount of TR paper as a part of a group buy. The sheets were A4 210 x 297 - my daughter and I discovered that cutting them in half was perfect for CRVs EXCEPT that they wouldn't fit into regular US envelopes without folding or paying extra postage. So we decided to cut them in thirds. She planned on selling a envelopes worth at the pen show so that she could finance her pen purchases and what better way to pay for your stuff than by selling mom's stuff (especially if you can rope mom into helping). The first thing we discovered, it takes forever to count out 25 pages and you need to separate the bunches so that you can afford to get the pages cut. So, we ended up weighing the paper, putting in a blue sheet to divide the stacks and then having the papers cut. The blue sheets are FP friendly and are a metallic paper that can be purchased from PaperWorks.com. Longstory, short, my kid sold each envelope at the LA pen show for $2. This allowed her to buy a Sheaffer and allowed other people to try out TR paper. Each envelope can be sent for a single stamp since the weight of these sheets is about 1 oz. So everyone wins.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the papers.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
