The nib looks ok. Not the best photos. If it is a piston fill, you are probably ok. I would Google the serial number though and the edition number. This is a very often faked pen.

Not to say that it makes this one legit but the fakes I've seen have had a nib that resembles the two tone nib on a Legrand (only poorly done). This one appears to have the correct nib.

That definitely looks like an authentic Jules Verne to me. I assume it's a standard Montblanc piston filler mechanism? if so, no worries.

 

You need to take care to not let that band next to the nib get corroded.

How do you google the number? Number/18500 and Jules Verne?

I would do montblanc Verne ###### and see if you get results. If so, it is usually people reporting a fake unless it is an ad for a previous sale fo the pen. Often hfakers use the same serial number on all the fakes in one production run.

 

Your nib looks fine and the pen looks used which is also a decent sign someone is not tyring to sell you a brand new knockoff from China. But do make sure it is a piston filler. If not, there is no version of the fountain pen that was ever a cartridge/converter filler.

The band fell off mine after it hit the floor a few times...

These days anything with a snow cap is counterfeited.

I only bought the JV because I came across a $$$ windfall and decided I would buy the Writer's LE that was the new kid in the store at the time.

 

It cannot be a popular pen compared to other LE though...

Hi Prince ,

 

Your JV appears to be genuine, but a small reservation on the "flaking " or "peel Off " on the section . You can have a comparison with the pics posted below. ( pics are from my MB JV bought from MB Germany directly way back in the year of its release ). Hope pics will add more clarity to your evaluation.

His pen is authentic. The band next to the nib probably just needs cleaning is all. I wasn't suggesting it was flaking or peeling off. It might just be reflections on the photo. :)

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
