Problem Filling Wall Street Le

Hi, I've just receive a new Visconti Wall Street LE. Beautiful pen, but I can't use it because the piston rod won't extend! I don't want to force it - any ideas? Anything I need to do other than unscrew the blind cap fully? I have managed to fill other pens with this system successfully .....

Since this is a new pen, I would communicate this problem with my dealer before trying to force anything.

If there is no dealer there is a service/distributor for your area. I strongly suggest you try this first.

 

If you want to try yourself, it sounds like the piston seal is sticking where the barrel narrows at the back of the ink window. If you could get some water in there to lubricate things it would probably work fine. These nib units unscrew for better access (it may take mild heat on the section) if needed

Thanks, Esteroids. Yes, I've emailed the seller, but they're across the ocean, so it's going to be a pain to return. Your diagnosis sounds possible - depending on what the seller says I'll give it a try.

Well, the seller did advise using a bit of force, and it has indeed extended. Just needed to be a bit braver!

I have a different problem with mine.

 

The inner cap is crumbling, coming out in bits and pieces every time I use it, and I also noted some corrosion/plating loss on the metal part at the top of the cap above the clip (what's it called? I just can't remember ), and the celluloid barrel and cap felt 'sticky'. Is this a sign of the celluloid turning bad?

Oh dear, that doesn't sound good .... I don't have any answers for you, but lots of sympathy. What's the humidity like where you are?
