52+ Inks - 2017 - Weekly Community Ink Project

Well, it was going to be my Akkerman #5 Shocking Blue, that I paid $40 for, but it wasn't Shocking Blue, but #8 Diep-Duinwaterblau in a Shocking Blue bottle, and Akkerman replaced it with a real bottle, so now I have two bottles of Akkerman ink for $40, so that's not so bad.

Perhaps, if I added my time, it would be the 100 cartridges of Parker Penman Sapphire that I got from Pokydady, because I then punctured each cartridge and extracted the ink with a syringe, and decanted it into a bottle.

This will require some thought...

Liz, sometimes the most expensive ink is the one that ended up costing you the most ... as in one or more of FPNers has spilled ink on some dreadfully expensive clothing ... or irreplaceable furniture. At least one person has a BSB sink story that really ought to qualify.

That expanded definition of expensive would distress my poor brain in its efforts to distill this down to 0s and 1s, except I don't (yet?) have such a story. There is a bit of (I think) Waterman Audacious Red on my family room carpet, though. :)

My take away is that we should each define "most expensive" for ourselves rather than apply a standard rule for determining expense. That works. Thanks!

PS: I've read that BSB story and must confess to being amused by the author's tale (though I'm sure it wasn't amusing for him at the time).

Yeah and if the spouse asks for a divorce over ink spills, then the ink becomes very expensive.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Yes, much too expensive. Let's hope no one has (or will) come close to that expensive! And now I'm off to see if I can find an ink that's "fun" or "up to no good"...

You are amazing. I have loved all the weeks. I'm so glad you are doing this and I'm sorry that I'm so far behind in posting pictures.

Thanks!

I tried planning out the rest of the year, and realised I am about 5 short of 52 inks! I'll have to get some sample action going...

Don't forget to check back to the 366 ink thread. I'm still posting other people's replies.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
