Happy May Day!

May the 4th falls on Thursday this week. May the Force be with you! Pick an ink for this day.

As usual, don't forget to share with us your choice of ink, your writing, drawing, doodling or anything with the ink in this thread. You can take a photo, make a scan, or even better, write letters and CRV reviews (what is a CRV?) and mail them to the many ink pals here. You are welcome to check back on this thread even when we've gone past this week.

Click here to read more about this community project. Links to the two previous links can be found there too.

Strange and powerful forces? The eerie Sargasso Sea, bordering the legendary Bermuda Triangle, is full of mystery.post-135679-0-52868600-1493766948_thumb.jpg

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

I'm late to reply here, and please overlook the water-splash crinkles towards the end; my precious new puppy was great help with both.

I quite like this one. It has a dusty feel to it. It's the only bottle of ink (even though just a 15ml one) I've finished.

Yes, I can see what you mean for the first time, when using the TWSBI. In all the other pens I've used I've found it to be a sickly "greeny" colour.

Lovely colour. It's the kind of green I like. Any photo of your new puppy?

Puppy pics as soon as I teach him how to fill his own pens, or at least to not chew the ink drawer!

  • 2 weeks later...

I was too slow to claim Heart of Darkness (great choice LizEF) and I've already used Doyou (Count Dooku).

So here is Obi Wan Kenobi's lightsabre drawn with Kobe 46 . . . . . . I didn't have Kobe 1 . . . . I'm clutching at straws people, forgive me

NB. How did Obi Wan not get blisters wielding this fella . . . ?

I do not understand this. Can one claim an ink-of-the-week and thus prevent others from choosing it? Surely not....

Imagine LG coming over and telling you, hey, you can't use Heart of Darkness this week because LizEF has already chosen it to represent The Force...

Nice drawing, btw, but you forgot the laser beam? (blue!) :lticaptd:

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
