Does the pen smell more in bakul than polished version? And is there any odor left on the hands after use?

They have the same odor.. Polished is just buffed version and they don't apply any coating on top so they have same odor..

Secondly I have never felt any odour on my hands after using them..

Well, I am not part of this group-buy but just had to get one of these 3C's, so I ordered one personally from Mr. Kandan. I guess I will post pictures here or elsewhere when I get mine. I expect it will be received in about 4 weeks from now. I got it in the blue-orange colour, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out!

I am still waiting for mine to be delivered, but that was my fault for ordering very late...

I admit I find it interesting to see what everyone else is ordering before I choose :D

and also to see what is coming in at arrival of pens ordered by other FPNers.

The choice from so many colour, finish and model variations provided by Ranga is really vast.

I especially like and am curious to see how some of the colours turn out in polished or bakul.

After choosing all the other options, I usually find it difficult to choose between these two finishes.

In some cases I believe certain colours look just as good in bakul and polished.

Black for example, so neat in polished, but so attractive in bakul too.

This Group buy showed that this seems true also for red cherry, fantastic in bakul, but very elegant polished.

I had a similar feeling seeing some of the greens, I really like the green swirl and the mottled green in both finishes.

Besides the obvious smooth feeling in the hand, what polish does to some of the colour patterns in my opinion is enhance the contrast. So the ripples and swirls stand out more in polished, and tend to mingle more in bakul.

That seems to suggest to me, without being a rule, that the colour + colour combinations, like some of the new regular ebonite, and the premium ebonite, especially when swirled, stand out better in polished finish (Vaibhav seemed to suggest this too for the premium), whilst the regular ebonite, particularly the rippled and mottled, which contain black, can be contrasted enough colour combinations also in the bakul finish (look at that blue ripple earlier in this thread!).

When polished they look good anyway, just different.

I have two 3c in olive ripple from previous purchases, one polished and one bakul (one with clip and one clipless) and really like them both!

Bakul of course has then its own special character, grainy and warm to the touch, like wood, a sort of natural look and feel which I also like very much.

Waiting for my next 3c!

I already received my fountain pen (color Teal Blue - Black Ripple). It works properly, looks great on the hand and writes very well and smoothly.

The only objection is about the color, I'm a bit disappointed with the color, the blue is darker than in the example photo in the first post.

Here is my Ranga

Thanks Mr. Kandan

Ranga Pens - So many choices. I guess when you can't decide between two colors, you just get one with both colors.

Thanks Kandan, Vaibhav and Mr Pandurangan for a fantastic job.

Cheers.

Mine finally arrived yesterday.

Unusually late but important thing is, it reached me safely and intact.

And as usual, great workmanship! Worth the wait.

:P what you think of me is none of my business ;)

Same here regarding being disappointed with the colour....I ordered the Rose Red - Blue Ripple, but looks more like Rose Red - Bottle Green Ripple. Maybe it's the polish that makes it look different to the raw material, which is fair enough if we could have seen the sample beforehand. Would order another but $50+ isn't such a bargain in my view for a nice but not that exciting pen.

Wow, the Model 5 is *so* much bigger than the standard Bamboo!i don't think I have any pens that large as yet - it can double as a truncheon if ever I have to defend myself!

The extra tall bamboo that i see here ... Does it have a pen at both ends?

Hahaha....not it doesn't. The model 5 and the giant bamboo is an oversize pen but is comfortable and light.

Similar feel to handling a Pelikan M1000 I suppose, just that it the barrel for the model 5 and giant bamboo is longer.

Well my wife is on the way to the post office to pick up the pens. :) :) :) :)

I ordered one for her in Teal Blue/Black Ripple and one for me in Green Ripple.

The only thing I'm second guessing is that I ordered them both with Schmidt nib units instead of JOWO because I didn't see the option for it.

I'll post pictures later on.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
