15 Ml Glass Bottles

As my ink collection continues to grow, I'm getting more concerned about contaminating my supply. The germaphobe in me is a little anxious about dipping a nib into a nearly full 3 oz. bottle of water-based ink. Plus, if I knock over a 1/2 oz. bottle of ink, I'll be less angry with myself than if I spill 3 ounces of Apache Sunset all over my desk.

Anyone know a good source for smaller glass bottles?

I've been on the hunt (on Amazon) for some 10 to 15 ml glass bottles for decanting ink, but most of the reviews I've seen are very mixed: cracked or poorly fitting caps.

I also plan to keep a few little bottles of ink at work as a backup supply, in case I get careless and forget to check my ink levels.

You could use a syringe to draw the ink and trasfer it to the converter/cartridge and some piston fillers.

No help on the small bottles, except to reuse the Iro 10? (15?) ml bottles.

The only place I have seen the empty Iroshizuku bottles for sale has been Vanness Pens; they were $3.00 each but are currently sold out. They do have the 5 ml ink sample vials @ $4.00 for 13, (their "Baker's Dozen,") which I find become sturdy if put inside a small glass jar, jigger or such.

Thanks for all the tips. The Iro bottles look perfect, but I'll try hitting up a craft store first.

I assume there's no risk using different types of glass (clear, amber, cobalt), right?

As long as it's clean I don't see why it should make any difference what colour the glass is. As long as you don't mind not being able to see what colour your ink is though, when you tilt the bottle. :)

I have bought these --

from eBay vendor fashionladyshop

They are the middle ones. I have also bought 20 ml bottles, which is to the left.

Lol. I'm definitely partial to clear, though cobalt bottles look so wonderfully exotic. Amber just make me think of medical procedures.

I wasn't sure if the composition of certain glass colors would interact with ink. It seemed unlikely, but I definitely had to ask.

I have a Sheaffer Skrip ink bottle I purchased at a local antique shop. The bottle is in excellent condition, but the lid isn't in great shape and I didn't want to chance the decades old paper gasket in the lid leaking when tilting the bottle.

I took the Skrip bottle to the Container Store and tried using lids from their bottles on the Skrip bottle. Bottle SKU# 688290 lid fits perfectly! Purchased the bottle for $1.49.

+1

I have to check those out at my store. I have some sheaffer skrip well bottles with caps that are either rusted or the paper is not sealing very well, and I'm looking for a cap that replaces it.

Thanks for the link.

I just bought a few of these from the container store today and tried them out.

Fits perfectly!!

I have two issues though.

This replacement cap is also metal and it will probably also become a victim to rust. It would be nice to find a plastic cap that fits.

Have you managed to find a use for the glass jar which now has no cap.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
