Iron Dark Blue (Sailor Exclusive)

So, I know these "reviews" of impossible-to-find inks can be frustrating, but I also know that I get pleasure out of seeing what's out there, even if I'll never be able to get a hold of it, so I hope these show-and-tells are taken in the spirit in which they're offered. With that said, this is a super-cool ink and a color I didn't expect to love as much as I do.

One request if it isn't too much to ask. Do you have a picture of the ink when is it smeared with water a bit? I draw a bit and like to spread the ink on the drawing with a wet brush. The diluted color is important to me.

Good review of a nice ink. My type. A very dark blue to say the least... Also, at least a shot of black, maybe a half a hint of red????

Is it really impossible to find, or just difficult? No longer made? What?

Added!

I only have a sample, but my understanding is it's sold out.

Thanks for adding the water wash. The pink residue is a deal breaker for me as far as using this for sketching but I still think it's a lovely shade for writing with.

Thank you.

Yes, thanks for the wash picture. I am partly color blind and wouldn't have noticed the pink unless graphophile pointed it out.

Thanks so much for the review! It was really helpful for me, because I had been curious about this ink, and now I know I can safely not give it another thought. It looks a lot like Hougado's Deep Dark Indigo when you add a drop or two of water to it (which I tried, in a desperate attempt to lighten it up). I eventually ended up selling DDI as samples, since I knew it was too dark for my purposes.

I really appreciate you review though! It put my mind at ease. :)

I'm so glad it's not a colour I like.

I can definitely live without it, but it's been a nice change of pace from my usual blues.

Lovely!

I think it has a certain character!

I really like this color. Too bad it's not available, but I already have so many dark blue inks I will try not to be triggered into crying or going to my safe space.

Very much like Noodler's Ellis Island Registrars ink from FPH. One of my favs because it's very dark yet not boring.

Is this a store-specific ink, a regular line but LE ink, or what? And can Sailor be prevailed upon to make more? Enquiring minds want to KNOW....

Thanks for the review. And, well, not...

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
