(Tomoe River. The Robert Oster Astorquiza Rot sample is written by fireant. The camera emphasised the contrast between Matador and Shakespeare but in real life they are really similar.)

Beautiful review ! I love it ! Usually I don't like red, but I fall in love with this one, it was love at first sight.

Nice review and lovely photos!

I got this ink and although I'm trying to like it, it just hasn't grown on me. The ink I got has more dull orange-y undertones than in the photos, so I'll probably sell it.

Pens: Conid Kingsize ebonite (x2)
Inks:   KWZ Dark Brown / KWZ IG Orange / Diamine Chocolate / Diamine Burnt Sienna / Diamine Ochre / Monteverde Scotch Brown

Good review and good ink. Although red isn't at all my specialty (either), I like this one as it really does seem to suggest a red velvet to me. Okay, maybe MB has won here, but they (MB) certainly do have a lot of experience in issuing red inks over the last ten years.... Or maybe I like it because this is the MB ink which I have waited longest for. It was first mentioned and/or bought in the States last Spring but it only appeared here for sale in Krautland six months later....

I like the Oster Astorquiza Rot (I bought this one). I'm not sure yet about the Shakespeare Red. I still have plenty of Diamine Carnival left, and then their's Papier Plume's Lovers' Red.

I have pictures to prove it... In my experience, Astorquiza Rot and Montblanc Velvet Red are so close is scary... ;)

 

I also compare it to Carube (which is much darker and brown) and and Hitchcock red (which is more purple.. but I never notice before)..

It is still available in Oz, or so the vendor says. I just ordered some now. Freight could be prohibitive for others.....

I ordered mine from them two months ago, and I didn't receive it until last week. They will only tell you they're out of stock and waiting for restocking after you've ordered, so you never know whether they have it or not beforehand.

You can always email them and ask. They are quick to reply to any questions and always pleasant.

Well no, it's really not a problem. They still sell it, and let you know it'll be a delay; it's not like it's gone forever and they just take your money and run. And they'll tell you whether it's there if you simply ask. I'd rather they continue to spend their time on their good customer service and quick dispatch of orders than bothering to update hundreds of products whether it's in their physical location or not.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
