Thank you !

Since I don't have my scanner with me anymore, I have to make do with my phone camera. I try my best to correct the colour (with a grey card) but there's no guarantee! :)

No complaints here.

I tried a sample of this a while back and absolutely fell in love with the color. I hope they get a bottle in soon at my (now) local pen shop.

Thanks for the review.

ETA: Brilliant review, Lgsoltek! Your inky curiousity always triggers my own...

Apart from the sheen, has anyone (or could anyone kindly) compared this ink with a mixture of blue and black from Waterman/Pelikan/Parker? I'm guessing something like a 5:1 or 4:1 blue:black ratio?

If not, I might just have to order a bottle from Diamine...

I don't think those inks mixed together in *any* ratio are going to get you the red sheen that Oxford Blue has. I suppose it's possible, but I think it's unlikely. Honestly, I don't know where you're located, but Diamine inks aren't that expensive compared to some other brands, and a lot of the colors come in smaller 30 ml bottles as well as the 80 ml ones (although the price per ml will be higher than in the larger bottles).

Thanks for your review - this ink is currently at the top of my "want" list.

Great review and comparison!, how does this compare to Diamine 1864?

Thanks Ruth. I can order a 30ml bottle of Diamine for less than 2 quid... Just trying to exercise a little restraint :) I will probably order a bottle (along with a list of other inks) and report back.

I keep telling myself I have enough dark blues, but I couldn't resist getting a 30ml bottle of this one. It just looks so good. Thanks for the review!

Nice, thanks for the review. Been using this ink a couple of months now and I like it very much. It's better behaved in terms of feathering/bleed than either Diamine Sargasso Sea or Majestic Blue. The colour is fabulous. I haven't had any cleaning problems yet but we'll see how it does with time. I'd like it to be a little more water resistant (it isn't particularly) but, you know, it is what it is. Nice ink. I think it will be a roaring success for Diamine.

Thanks for the info (I only used B&W film and learned to process that).   Boy -- the stuff I learn here!  Just continually astounded at the depth and breadth of knowledge in this community! Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

It just wasn't likely to have been Kodachrome.  It would have been the films I referred to as "other color films." (Kodachrome is not a generic term for color film. It is a specific film that produces transparencies, or slides, by a process not used for any other film. There are other color trans

@Ceilidh -- Well, I knew people who were photography majors in college, and I'm pretty sure that at least some of them were doing photos in color, not just B&W like I learned to process.  Whether they were doing the processing of the film themselves in one of the darkrooms, or sending their stuff out to be processed commercially?  That I don't actually know, but had always assumed that they were processing their own film. Kodachrome 25 was the most accurate film for clinical photography and was used by dermatologists everywhere. I got magnificent results with a Nikon F2 and a MicroNikkor 60 mm lens, using a manually calibrated small flash on a bracket. I wish there were a filter called "Kodachrome 25 color balance" on my iPhone camera.
