Hi,

I'm a new member, but I've been reading your posts for a couple of years; - great source of knowledge and inspiration. Thanks everyone.

 

My first question to the forum is to ask about a supplier - Fendess. I saw from old posts that this used to be italgadgets?

I'm looking for a particular writing instrument, very hard to find. Fendess have it on their site. What makes me ask this question is that they have its companions, and it's possible to order more than 1. I thought that was pretty unusual considering its rarity. So before buying I would welcome any opinions or experience please.

I'm seeking MB Boheme vert pencil. I've seen the odd one advertised, but on enquiry it's 'out of stock'. I have the FP and BP. Tempted by the RBs I've seen for sale, but I'm holding out for the MP. I'm a patient girl!

 

Back in the day I was a collector of different sorts of things, so it's clearly in my genes, and I understand the draw. I love some of your quotes that point towards the ....... obsession. I'm trying to hold back a bit with the pens. Not succeeding very well.

 

Over a period of 3 years or so in the 70's I treated myself to a FP, BP, MP set of Waterman Carene in Marine Green. Not as a collector; they were chosen because I liked the look. I wanted to have a decent fountain pen for business meetings (yawn) and I added the others over time. They are still in excellent condition, used regularly for 40years but kept well. I bought a couple more FPs around the same time - regular, nice ones. Not collectibles.

 

A couple of years ago I bought a new MB Classique BP red gold trim. I was happy with that, but found myself 'window shopping' others in the range. The bug had obviously been simply dormant. I've definitely woken it up and now have several items, mainly FPs, which are my preference, and I'm enjoying learning about them. FPN is on my desktop! And thank goodness for YouTube.

 

The downside is learning about the prevalence of fakes, and it's making me cautious. But that's not a bad thing.

 

BTW my home is UK but I'm based in the Middle East. It's great to see the multinational group on this Forum.

Good luck finding your MB! I'm afraid that's richer water than I currently swim in, so I won't be of much help. :)

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
