Waterman Reflex Da Vinci - Some Eye Candy

Fellow colletors,

Thought I would share some eye candy that is otherwise a fairly ordinary pen. Since they were released, the Waterman Reflex da Vinci pens have become something of a niche collectible.

The Waterman Reflex certainly meets the "ordinary" requirement, being the quality entry level pen in the Waterman line during the 1990s through at least through the early 2000s.

Many large pen manufacturers in that time period produced inexpensive pens that were sold in stationers, drug stores and big box office supply stores. They were often sold on hang cards or in cheap paperboard boxes.

The da Vinci Reflexes came in two versions, a predominately blue pen featuring Mona Lisa on the barrel and a predominately red pen featuring the Aerial Screw drawing on the barrel. The pens were offered in blue paperboard boxes that also featured the Mona Lisa, Aerial Screw and a gear design that appears on the red pen's cap. Fine and medium nib pens are known. Offerings included the fountain pens sold separately, fountain pen and pushbutton ballpoint pen sets and sets with two ballpoint pens. Retail pricing is not known, but would be appreciated.

You can read more about them in the article link here:

Thanks!

I like the red one. I have an ordinary Reflex in green. I can honestly say it is one more type of Waterman in the display case. I have not gotten it to write with either converter or cartridge. Considering the low cost, it is not important enough to launch a major effort, certainly not worth spending money on.

The red Da Vinci Reflex is a pretty pen. I don't think I like the colors in the blue pen.

Interestingly, the blue ones seem to sell at a higher price. That's been my experience both ways.

Thanks!
