The ink should be available, everywhere, in the USA, in August, however, it looks like it will be priced at $19 instead of $16. Hope I'm wrong about this!

I think someone asked if MB Shakespeare looked like MB Hitchcock: both are exceedingly different. Where Hitchcock is a magenta based, drying blood color, Shakespeare is almost a reddish brown color with a puce undertone--fantastic, rich hue.

Hitchcock is darker, but not by much.

Ok...so is more saturated than Poppy, but less than Oxblood... very close to Red Dragon. THANKS!!

Does anyone know an ink which would be similar in colour to the one shown in Pravda's review? The 'Red Dragon' version of Velvet Red isn't really useful for me, but I would really love to have an attainable 'brick red' ink

Without seen them side by side.. I will guess that Shakespeare is more red and Hitchcock is more brown.

Ugh, if it's very close to Red Dragon then I'll pass. I really dislike Red Dragon.

Looking at the comparisons with the other reds that 888007888 posted, it struck me -- it's the color of red velvet cake. Too bad, because I actually kinda like red velvet cake (other than the concept of actually making one: I saw instructions a number of years ago on an episode of Martha Stewart, and it called for a bottle and a HALF of McCormick red food coloring -- that would be an ounce and a half of food coloring every time... ).

Just a quick scribble.

 

Its a dark red... sort of like a blood red, blood that has been drying for a few minutes. Straight out of the pen it looks a bit livelier, but like all things it dies with time... It slowly succumbs to the reality of it: outside the pen and bottle, its life and purpose is all but finished.

I like it more than the Leonardo and Hitchcock inks. It's an extremely unique ink with a color unlike any other ink I've seen. Hard to explain.

 

I'm going to stock up on these before they disappear like the Leonardo and Hitchcock inks. My boutique is sold out and they don't know if they can order any large batch for me. Hopefully I can find an extra bottle or two ...

i've been using mine on the Pilot Metro (as shown above), and i have to say: i quite like it.

 

the color is a nice ruby red. Specially on Tomoe River paper it looks fantastic. On regular (non feathering paper) it looks good as well. great flow, good shading.
