Montblanc William Shakespeare Velvet Red

Yesterday was able to get my hands on a bottle of Montblanc's latest Limited Edition ink, the William Shakespeare Velvet Red.

This is not a real review, however; let's consider it an introduction or a mini-review for those who are curious and cannot wait for a proper writeup? :)

The ink is on the darker side, blood colored red I would say. Very highly saturated, with a hint of shading (assume it would give better color variation in broad nibs). It felt slightly dry in the pen or on the nib, but it did not dry as quick as I would have imagined on the paper.

It reminds me of the Seasons Greetings of 2007 scented ink, but yet a bit darker. Almost the same red as Black Swan in English Roses right before it dries into the brownish shade.

Is it a red/black? Hmm.. from ½ a meter away I would have thought the written words were written in black ink.

It has overall good fluidity, just that feel on the nib- you know- like Oyster Grey? I mean, its not very very slippery

Love, love, love dark (blood) reds. Thanks so much for the heads up.

You're welcome :) Here's the bottle/packaging

Thanks for the review. I think this is one i can pass on (it's really clear that Claudia and I do NOT have the same taste in color...).

Yup, you can have this one, and all the murky greens, too. Well, maybe not J Herbin Vert Empire, which only gets murky looking when it fades....

LOL. I want the ink because I love reds. I also love those bright purples that Claudia outgrew at 14. (Her words) However, Claudia and I agree about our greens not being too blue.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I love the packaging of this ink. I don't use reds often, but this looks like a nice one, not too bright. So I'll probably get this.

How does this compare to the MB Corn Poppy Red and do we have an ETA of release please?

It's darker than CPR and since I'm reviewing it, then it's released :)
