Another one from the old Four Seasons re-release.

One word to sum up this ink: Meh.

 

It's a low saturated pink, barely visible, highly impractical. It feels somewhat dry.

 

Splash

The splash flatters this ink. The scan on the right is slightly oversaturated.

Shades a lot (as expected from a barely visible ink like this).

Compare

If someone really wants this colour (can't imagine anyone), get STORiA Fire Red instead. They are very similar (terrible pale pink). Neither of them flows wet, and Fire Red has water resistance.

Sheen

A subtle golden sheen could be observed in certain cases.

Your splash is wonderful... but that is pretty much it. I will agree with you in all your points, a not very practical ink.

It's strange that this ink is the most popular one among all 8 in China. It's the one that sells out the fastest. Maybe my taste is not typically east-asian...

 

 

They seem to like their "pastel" colors there... You have better taste... ;)

Yes, Chinese prefer these types of colours (Pastel - as Cyber6 as said). I was talking to a Chinese one FPN and were discussing a few shop exclusives inks. All their favourites were colours like these, which I had no interest in.

 

Personally, i would prefer to pour this ink down the drain than let it any one of my pens.

Well I don't like this ink but I don't hate it that much. :D It might be useful for, say, drawing a forest of sakura (as the name suggests)...

This is one of the two Jentle re-releases that I passed on and now I'm happy I did. Thank you for the review!

 

I have to say though that your review makes it look very pretty especially on Tomoe. For some reason, I just don't like writing with these light pinks: I got the Kobe#30 Ooji Cherry in December and each time I try filling a pen with it, I find myself emptying it at most a day later. Maybe it's because I prefer writing on Rhodia. Or maybe it's because I've always had a thing for pinks that sizzle :P

Thank you for the review. I kind of agree and don't like the ink. And I dislike really dry inks too. And still, somehow though, I still would like to see it and write with it myself . . . Maybe if it were a bit more substantial, I don't know.

So I received a sample of Sakura-mori yesterday and wrote a letter with it.

 

I really wanted to like the ink. I truly did. While not a daily writer, I think the color is great for certain types of writing. But I really disliked how dry it was - and on Japanese fine nibs I exclusively use, dry inks just aren't pleasurable to write with. I doubt I will ever finish my sample. Thank you for the well-written review though!

Thanks for the revivew. Meh indeed. My only other comment is that when rouge caroubier looks amazingly vibrant in comparison you know it's a dull ink!

I think I understand why some people like it so much. I'm not one of them, though. It's some sort of bubble gum pink.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
