The Second World War of course; I grew up at a time when my parents' generation - at least those that we knew - would say that "things were better before the war."

Glad that I came across this thread. I managed to get a lovely chased black rubber named Swan 5. It is similar to the photo above but no clip, there is two gold rings on section and cap. I am trying to identify the model.

 

At the first instinct after receiving it, I gave the pen a quick rinse in water inside the barrel and the nib section. Some water may be in contact with the barrel. I hope I did not cause any discoloration. Only later, upon my question, the seller advised me to avoid water. Lesson learnt to check first.
