Montblanc Or Mont Blanc (Spelling)?

I've always spelled it Montblanc ... as in one single word, yet I have seen it spelled as two separate ... even within FPN. Which is correct? Semantics I know.

Over the years the company has used both formats so both are correct.

I believe the company spells its corporate name, in text type, as "Montblanc." The mountain is Mont Blanc. But some confusion arises because there are many situations in which there is, or seems to be, a good reason to break up "Montblanc."

The logo on the ink bottles is "MONT" above "BLANC." As is the company's name on my Montblanc push-fit converter. And on the nib of my Montblanc SlimLine. And, in case you were wondering, "SlimLine" is one word.

Don't worry about it. If you get a job at Montblanc, or find yourself doing typographic design for the company, you will be told what they want. Here at FPN it is, to use an old-fashioned phrase, Liberty Hall.

As above, I think both are correct. The trend tends to be Montblanc as in one word but it is like saying MountEverest, rather than Mount Everest.

Look, I'm not gonna banter semantics with you.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Just joking. 😀

I'd say, it's six one way half a dozen the other

If you are referencing the pens, the company that makes and sells them has determined its own name is Montblanc.

Any official trademarks or copyrights or corporate paperwork is under "Montblanc". Wikipedia has it the same way as well. Splitting it up for the logo is just for typesetting reasons, Mont Blanc is the mountain and the mountain only.

No.

Montblanc is the spelling for the company only.

Mont Blanc is the spelling for the mountain only.

When you see:

MONT

BLANC

this has nothing to do with the spelling of the company's name. It's just and only the trade mark or the logo.

Please don't mix that up.

Oh, btw, and when you see

MONT BLANC

it's a spelling which is often and only used by fake makers.

A Trade Mark is the identification the company uses to, well, identify itself.

So I still say either is correct. If

Mont (insert image) Blanc is acceptable to the company I guess it should be acceptable to me as well.

Sigh... Jar confuses trademark with orthography. Hey, even Wikipedia gets it wrong, so it's no big deal. In any event, Penparadise is correct in his description of the two versions.

888007888, if you are typing the pen name or corporate name in a sentence, the correct spelling is as you stated in your original post: Montblanc. You could try to compose Montblanc's trademarks with text characters and separate the two syllables (mountain in the middle or logo with syllables on two lines adjacent to the Montblanc star), but that's not a spelling issue.
