Oxford Blue - Diamine

Manufacturers since 1864, Diamine Inks relocated to this purpose built 'state of the art' factory in Liverpool in 1925, where they successfully carried on using the traditional methods and formulas for ink production. Over the years the company has changed hands and are now located close to the world famous Aintree Race Course

Oxford Blue is one of two new inks in Diamine line. I enjoy the color and the writing experience. It's well behaved and the color is quite intriguing.

It's my new favourite. I find it dark but not edging to black.. Nicest in a broader nib. But then, come to think of it, I would probably say that of all inks.

Nice review of a nice ink. There are so many in this field but its darkness and the exact amount of green in this Oxford makes it stand out very well among a lot of others. I'd say that Papier Plume's Midnight Blue comes closest. What would you say?

Nice ink, thanks for sharing (I've been looking at several of your other reviews, google directs me to them). My current favourite blue is Diamine Sargasso sea but this is something a little different and I may order some when next order from diamine.

Great review, as ever. I've had a sample from Diamine for a week but haven't inked it yet. But I bought a bottle which arrived this morning and it really does look right up my street. Just got to clean a pen out to start using!

Thanks for the review.

I'd have to see what this looks like next to Diamine Denim (an ink I really like), though, before I decided if it was worth a bottle.

Is this released yet? Don't see it on the Diamine site. Last I heard was "any day now" about a month ago.

They'll probably be at these links: 304 and 305, when they're added.

Edit: It does seem to be available, along with Classic Green, on Cult Pens.

So 8 x 30mL bottles for $37, same per as DIamine's $23 for 5 (shipped to USA). I know I want Majestic Blue, Dark Green, & Saddle brown along with the two new ones. For 8 maybe add Indigo, Prussian Blue, & Emerald. Orr... there are 6 Cult Pens exclusive colors.

Thanks for the review. Would you say it is quite similar to Yama Dori, but with a hint of midnight blue rather than turquoise?

I'm pretty excited about this new offering from Diamine. Like RM, I'd like to see a comparison of it with Denim. In some scans on the web, it looks deep blue; on others, blue-black. I'm also curious how it compares to Cult Deep Dark Blue.

Whoa! That's a really lovely dark blue! Thank you for the review.

I'll come up with something eventually.

Given the chance to grab all six Cult Pens exclusives, I think they're gonna get it. I have Denim to compare with when it gets here.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
