Sailor Kin-Mokusei

Sailor recently re-released the old four seasons inks. Sadly it's a limited edition (again!) and I had great difficulty to have finally got three of them.
It's said that Kin-mokusei is the same as Apricot, but I don't have the latter to compare. But I do have (Onago-iro Days) Honey, and I think these two inks are (almost) identical.

Using the transitive rule... Sailor Apricot is almost identical to Sailor Honey (there is a review somewhere) and Sailor Honey is almost identical to Kin Mokusei....

 

THEN.... Sailor Apricot is almost identical to Kin Mokusei..

 

 

 

 

I was never able to get Honey to compare to Apricot... now I don't have to (caressing my Kin Mokusei bottle)...

Huh...does honey and kin mokusei look identical to you in the flesh? They do to me (on the screen) but maybe I am missing something. Either way both are lovely.

I guess the answer to the question I asked in another thread (essentially, "Say, is there any ink with color/shading like Apache Sunset and sheen like Oku-yama?") is: (1) Sure; (2) there are, like, three of them; (3) they're all made by Sailor; and (4) you can't have them.

So true... I was lucky to have an Apricot, but was never able to get Honey.

 

But it looks like I don't really need to..... :D ... I still wish I could get Honey, the diamond bottle is lovely... :wub:

Woo, I have one Apricot and one Kin-Mokusei, so that's money saved on Honey.

Personally, I think they are different. In person, looking closely, Honey is a stitch lighter, tiny little bit less red. but that's really nitpicking. If you were to casually glance at a page of writing, I'm not sure anyone would know the difference. Functionally, they are the same. I do prefer Honey, but since I only have one bottle of that, I use it sparingly.

 

Instead, I go to town on Kin-mokusei, which I bought 7 back up bottles of back in 2010, because I loved the ink so much. I may only have one back up bottles of a few fave Sailor inks, but I think I'm covered until my death in terms of Yama-dori and Kin-mokusei.

I'm not sure if this is going to be another Japan-only release, of course, so acquiring a lifetime supply may still be tricky. Fortunately (?), I overpaid a bit for a bottle from Bay E, so I'll have ample time to use it and decide if I want to go all-in when the new supply appears.

I assumed this was be close enough to Apricot to fulfil my requirements, and it is.

The Sailor rep at the DC show told me the inks thaat aren't available now (Kin-mokusei, Irori. Rikyu-cha, etc.) should be available on the common North American market by October of this year. So fear not, Kin-mokusei lovers! We will all be able to grab some then.
