Is There A Difference From European & Hong Kong Made? Id Help

Hello all.

I would like to know the date that this serial number is from.

I have attached two photos of the Silver 163 Montblanc Soltaire Rollerball Pen. The ring reads, "KB100437 W. Germany"

 

Also, are European made pens different from ones made in Hong Kong?

Montblanc does not make pens in Hong Kong.

I'd suppose the European ones are the original, and Hong Kong made are fakes

The pen was made before 1990, the date when Germany was reunified, so made in West Germany became made in Germany on pens and other manufactured goods.

A serial number indicates a pen made after 1992 IIRC.
