Old Style M600 Cap

Hi,

Are the old style and new style M600 caps interchangeable? I would like to acquire an old style cap for my M600 if they happen to show up for sale. I'm talking about the one with the black background behind the pelican and chick.

Thank you.

Weren't there newer sized M600s with the the cap I'm speaking about?

edit: As seen here, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pelikan-M600-Red-Striped-Fountain-Pen-Discontinued-F-nib-/201504995866?hash=item2eeaa23a1a:g:8MQAAOSwQItULDnt

Yes, you are correct! Although the original M600 was the size of the M400, but was like a deluxe M400, the previous, larger M600 did have the black top with screened logo (I actually prefer it over the gold-engraved top). Check with "printhardcopy" on eBay since he has listed black-topped cap M600s and M400s. Also, he has been known to just offer Pelikan pen parts, like barrels and caps, I believe. I once purchased a cap & barrel without nib for a striated red M400. Send him an email. He is also on FPN and, perhaps, he will respond to you here. Good luck!

No matter where you go, there you are.

I think that your question is a bit vague and therefore generated a little confusion. The answer to your question is yes AND no.

NO:

The M600 cap from 1985-1997 will not fit the M600 made 1997-present

YES:

The M600 cap from 1997-2003 (screened two chick logo on black back ground) and 2003-2010 (screened one chick logo on black back ground) will fit the M600 from 2010-present (those that now have the gold plated one chick logo cap top).

Hope that helps clarify your question. Both of the answers prior are correct.

Thanks all for the clarification.

I realize my mistake in the first post. Sargetalon: ironically, I had seen your video about the new and old M600s so I was indeed aware of their differences, yet completely forgot about the smaller sized 1985-1997 M600 at the writing of my post.

Can we have a vote on who likes the new vs the old version of the cap? I'm torn between two caps ... feeling like a fool ... 😻

I don't dislike the newer one, but the black one is equally nice. I'd like to own both and alternate between them.

I didn't like the gold plated caps as much when they were first introduced in 2010 but they have grown on me. I sill enjoy the older ones very much and would be torn in a head to head match-up. Perhaps a new thread with a poll would better serve to address the question of preference. I'm sure answers will be across the board.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
