So I am just sitting here working on some math for college pondering over the fact that I just turned 30 and wondering where the last few years of my life went..

 

As I'm writing with Noodler's Black ink I catch of whiff of the inks aroma and Its a familiar pleasant smell lol.. I don't know what it is but I just really like the smell of Noodler's black ink. It's like when I'm writing with it I can't help lifting my pen to my nose to smell it..

 

Really weird..I know.

 

But now I'm wondering if anyone has any inks that they just really like the smell of? Or am I just a complete weirdo..(Don't answer that lol)

I have some scented inks from that I like to smell. One is cinnamon and the other is whiskey. Regular ink is not an enticing to me, but I do smell it once and a while, partly to make sure it has not gotten any mold or turned into something untrustworthy.

The only ink I have with a distinct odor is Diamine Sargasso Sea. It has a slightly funky smell. Like the sea. LOL

 

It's a good thing though because when diluted it has the same look as Iroshizuku Asa-gao. When I've forgotten which I have inked in a pen one whiff and I know which it is.

 

So yes, I do sniff my ink (sometimes).

OP, you said I shouldn't answer that question about "weird", so I won't :-). Really, though, I do not sniff ink. I don't have any inks with an aroma strong enough for me to smell it over a house full of toy breed dogs. Too bad, sometimes! :-p I love the smells of honey, cinnamon, and vanilla. I'd enjoy smelling THOSE scents while writing :-).

Noodler's Texas Bluebonnet. Don't know the smell, but I almost always have a pen loaded and with me with this ink.

Haha Well I don't go out of my way to run around sniffing inks. But for some reason when I write with noodler's black it has a distinct smell to it that I kind of like. For me its like "the scent of fountain pens" lol . Its not really strong but it has a distinct smell that just represents fountain pens to me, when I think of fountain pens that smell pops into my head. While I'm writing sometimes I will lift the pen up and smell it but its not like I'm a huffing ink or anything haha.

The smell of Noodler's Black reminds me of the smell of india ink, which I remember from my days as an art student. It's been a couple of decades since I've actually used or smelled india ink, but for some reason, Noodler's Black reminds me of it. To me it just smells like what I'd expect ink to smell like.

Not sure I have ever really done much ink sniffing, but when I first got my resin Noodler's Konrad (Red Mesa Tortoise), I had heard how bad the smell was. I actually thought it was quite pleasant and not overly strong. While I don't do it anymore, the last time I did that smell was long gone. Sort of reminded me of "new car smell", but different.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
