What Pens Are You Using Today 2016

Recommended Posts

Today's pouch has a Lamy 26P Broad with Diamine Oxblood, a black Parker 45 with a steel Broad nib and Waterman Audacious red and a Sheaffer Targa 1000 with a stub nib and Parker Quink black.

All 3 are going to run out of ink shortly ... I'm lining up new pens to take their place!

The Charlie was introduced by Noodlers Ink after terrorist attacks in Paris last year. This pen was included with a jar of ink. I like this pen, the simplicity, the way it writes which is surprisingly good, but I had put it away for a while because it had a tendency to burp disastrously. I remembered it after watching one of Nathan Tardiff's you tube vids (channel: InkNeedLastForever) recently on a completely different topic, in which he seems to acknowledge the burping issue and explains how it might be helped. I'm sorry I can't remember which video it was but it has to be one from within the last 12 months and if anyone cares I'd be happy to take the time to look it up for you. So I tweaked it. Paper is out of the re-cycle bin at the library, ink is Higgins Fountain pen India. I needed black today for a job application. No burping, but I wish it had. I did'nt get the job.

Read your review, very through and informative, as are all your reviews. It is such a shame this outstanding looking pen can't be matched with a half decent nib from the supplier.

Greg

Thank you for going through the review.. Good part was that he supplies few spare nibs.. Which can be tuned according to your liking.. But by yourself..

A grey Estie J 2550 inked up with Diamine Salamander. I like this ink much more in a finer nib than in one of my usual broads or obliques.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

It's 9am and I'm downtown at my favorite coffee shop.

Just finished the huge plate of toast, jam, eggs and bacon that $4.80 buys you at this place.

Pulled out my Hobonichi Techo and Parker 25 RB pen and am just about to put pen to paper on the March 27 page :)

@ Darkbulb Your breakfast followed by pen and Hobo looks idyllic.

I'm using a Nakaya Piccolo in a Seven Seas journal today. It has a beautiful broad nib made into a cursive italic. Later I'll grade papers with my favorite grading combo, a Custom 74 M nib with Namiki blue ink.

Thanks - it was indeed very pleasant :)

Did you see the blow out sale on Hobo 2016 (Japanese) for $17 this month? :)

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
