Disassemble A Monblanc Bp

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this has even been asked, but is there a special tool that is needed to disassemble a montblanc legrand ballpoint pen? I am not sure if they are glued shut as well during assembly at the MB plant. I am trying to experiment with my pen and I have tried everything up to vice grips which I cannot get a good grip with to unscrew. Of course, I am using layers of synthetic and leather between the tool so as not to damage the pen. Anyone ever tried to do this? Any help would be appreciated. Yes, I know about the warranty and I have no intention of selling these items.

thanks!

Where exactly are you trying to unscrew it from? I only have a classique ballpoint and after removing the emblem cap it's possible to remove the twisting mechanism.

Hello, and thank you for responding. I am gripping the top portion, but of course that is difficult. I do remember it is somehow attached to the twist mechanism internally, but gripping that is also a headache because of the grooves. I don't want to damage it. Hmm.

Are you attempting a repair?

Actually no. I am experimenting with different parts from my pens that I own. Yea I know, odd. I guess I am determined to see how certain things look with a part from another pen. A small fascination. lol :yikes:

I've managed to unscrew the top of the 3 ballpoints i have without much force just using my fingers, perhaps someone had tinkered with them before but it wasn't hard, just don't grip the clip as well since it's just the emblem part that screws off.

Thank you for the help. These are actually pens I found on fleabay, but I was assured they were genuine and never used. Both came from reputable sellers. I had one identical to the one I just bought and just like you I was able to unscrew the crown, but these two are proving to be a pain in a**. Oh well. I am determined! LOL! Have a great week and thanks so much for your assistance.

:D

I remembered from an older thread (can't find it right now) that some of the ballpoint pens have the snow cap attached from the twisting mechanism internally. You have to work from the inside if that's the case. One member posted a tutorial here before but I can't find it. Some pens have the snow tops like the ones jsolares have. They screw right off. Hope this helps.

My tops were screwed into the twisting mechanism, I had to get the snowcap off to pull out the twisting mechanism.

I talked to a former MB rep and she told me they use a special tool to unscrew the cap. I have tried like hell to remove it and I am getting no where. I guess this is how they keep people from swapping pen parts especially if an unscrupulous person tries to piece one using counterfeit parts and then selling it. Hmm. I am still determined to disassemble it. I know my classique doue I recently bought came apart easily on the first try, but for whatever reason, my legrand is proving to be a pain in the a**. Damn.

Yes, I have done this with my classique, but for some reason the legrand is a bit more difficult. Bummer. Thanks for the help!

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
