I picked up a few KWZI inks during the 3rd group buy, but the backlog of inks was quite large, and it took a long time for me to catch up. Vanness Pen has carried KWZ Inks for a while now since then, and I hope they get certain ones that I want back in stock.

 

The ink is a medium sky blue, and is quite nice. It has been trouble free. The color representation in the main review and the angled view is not as accurate as I'd like. It seems to have made the ink appear more like a medium blue. It is not.

This is the most accurate depiction of the color.

Yes it's definitely not a purple blue. The swab at Vanness for Azure #4 seems closer to the ink I have.

I think Blue #4 is not the same as Azure #4. Blue #4 is my absolute favorite.

The IG is waterproof the standard is not waterproof.

 

 

KWZI #4 is not an IG ink.. that is a Standard ink. KWZI #4 was a Standard Water Resistant ink.

The names of KWZI are bit confusing, that's right. The simple rule how to remember the properties: when there's 'IG' in the name - obviously the ink is waterproof as iron gall component is present, when not - that is standard, not waterproof. Some time ago, during the first group buys, there were Blues and Violets waterproof inks (or more exactly water resintat) that did not contain iron gall (eg. EtherX Blue #3). We don't produce them at the moment as there is a need to upgrade their formulation. Not to confuse the properties of the non IG blue inks, all standard not waterproof blues were named 'Azures'. The standard not waterproof violets got some nicer names, like Berry or Gummiberry. When we come back with non IG ink but still water resistant after reformulation - perhaps we will change their names sightly, giving a hint that the properties are different from standard ;)

Thanks for the review.

This one reminds me a bit, color-wise, of Noodler's Ottoman Azure: just the hint of teal in the blue.

      Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

      It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

      Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

      @asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
