Mb 144 & Roller Ball Pen- A Good Bargain?

Hello,

Hour ago I received a set of MB 144 fountain pen (at least think so) & roller ball pen, both in original box and original intl.warranty booklet. The f.pen is c/c, nib is monotone F size with appropriate inscription (4810,snowflake sign, 14 K, MONTBLANC) never used, with no marks of any kind of use. Mint condition?

On the middle cap ring there is text MONTBLANC Meisterstuck, and Germany on the cap clip ring. Please note the feeder, it's kind a solid, no "ribs".

The situation with the roller ball pen is the same- middle ring: MB Meisterstuck, "Germany".

F.pen length is: 135 mm capped, 118 mm uncapped; cap length is 63-64 mm and diameter cca 11-12 mm, fpen thickness is cca 10mm, measured at the ring. Roller ball pen length is 135 mm (roller ball mechanism is clock/counter wise screw, for approx 1/2 of the circle).

Snowflake on the top of both the fpen and r.ball pen is of appropriate shape and size&measures.

I had and have no reason to be suspicious abut the authenticity of the set, so I decided to buy it, and got it for approx 150 EUR.

There are some pics attached. Sorry for a bad quality, my camera has no good macro.

Any opinion is more than welcomed.post-107163-0-32525400-1446495723_thumb.jpgpost-107163-0-60422400-1446495728_thumb.jpgpost-107163-0-90505000-1446495734_thumb.jpgpost-107163-0-81978600-1446495740_thumb.jpgpost-107163-0-37256200-1446495746_thumb.jpg

It looks like a 144 fountain pen. The other looks more like a ballpoint than a rollerball. This was a fantastic deal.

Regards

When I spotted the offer at the local buy&sell site, I was hesitating, because the pics were blurry, and seller asked circa 175 EUR. Asked him if he could make some better pics of the nib and converter and could he guarantee authenticity, apart from the fact that the box looked authentic on the first sight. My reason was- if he did it- pics+written statement in the form of message- I may be in a position to claim return of the money if the set appeared not to be authentic (as a lawyer, I know that this statement is valid evidence in a possible dispute, here). When received the pics and positive statement, I offered 150 EUR in a local currency, he accepted. So, the set is here!

Here, in my country, it's very common that MB fakes/replicas are often offered as authentic. For most of the sellers it's enough that there is a word MONTBLANC is stamped, engraved, printed (whatever) and the AD is posted as "MONTBLANC pen". Unfortunately, most of them are not willing to add "replica" when reasonably warned about the authenticity. The same is with the most of the prospective buyers. I know so many people here who purchased apparent, obvious fake MB pen/pencil/rollerball. Rule is who dares-wins(sometimes..)

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
