Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell. Looks like a real ball point but not a Montblanc.

Sorry definitely a fake

The authentic Starwalker has 11 rectangles depth on it's barrel, between it's clip band and the start of it's grip, and it's serial number is on the clip band, not the clip.

No authentic Montblanc serial numbers start with NDL or MDL

Hopefully you didn't pay too much for it? As you've only just bought it, can you return it? If it came from Ebay you shouldn't have any problems with a refund.

Unfortunately, it is most certainly a counterfeit Montblanc. There are many threads here you can check out for guidance on how to rule out fakes in your next purchase attempt.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

Hello

thank you very much @ all for your help.

I thought it s fake too that s why I posted it here. The seller insists that it is a genuine pen and also said he still has the receipt.

I was at the Montblanc store today and and they said it s likely a fake but in order to get an authentication letter (which I need for Paypal refund) they will have to send it to the service center. The pen is on the way now. I will keep you posted

Thank you

Does MB service center charge anything for authentication, or it's free of charge? Thanks for reply.

I m on vacation in Canada right now (where I bought the Pen). Here they charge CAD 25 for shipping plus CAD 41 service charge. It could be that they waive the service fee but I will know when I get the pen back.

The problem is that Paypal will refund the purchasing price only but not the costs to get goods authenticated.

I forgot to mention:; The girl working at the store said I m lucky it s a simple pen because they have to send more expensive ones like older limited editions back to Germany for authentication which can take up to 3 months in time.

I'm actually amazed at this Montblanc boutique. All they have to do is to get an authentic one out and count the number of rectangles between the clip band and the grip on both.

If they can't even identify an obvious fake Starwalker like this, then it's likely they can't identify any fakes.

I would open a case with ebay and tell them it's a fake. I would send them a picture of it, plus a picture of an authentic one, and ask them if they can count the rectangles, to compare them against each other, and search on the internet for the NDL serial number on your fake's clip.

I agree with Chrissy. This is going to cost a lot of money for nothing. When you open up a dispute you provide the evidence that you have: comparison pictures of real vs fake; observations from this forum by experts; serial number fake. Then the seller has an opportunity to respond (unlikely). If there is a receipt from an authorized seller does the serial number match the pen you were sent? Try to get the pen back and a refund for an authentication letter. If Paypal or eBay want additional evidence then proceed to get a letter of authenticity at that time.

I have never heard of PayPal requiring some letter of authenticity on issues like this, particularly when it comes to Montblanc pens.

I have never heard of ebay or PayPal requiring any letter of authenticity in cases like this. I've claimed via ebay when I have received a fake Montblanc.

The other concern is that if Montblanc Head office get it, will they send it back confirming it's a fake or will they keep it? In the UK they always return the pen even if it's a fake, but I don't know if that's standard worldwide.

The first thing to do when you receive a fake on ebay, is to open a case on ebay. Whatever happens, don't allow yourself to run out of time to do this while waiting for Montblanc to confirm it's a fake. That can take at least 4 weeks.

First they had none in stock and second they can not give you anything in writing. They said I will get the pen back no matter what.

I had multiple times. Not regarding pens but on watches.

They can ask, just check the user agreement.

"Claim Resolution Process. Once a dispute has been escalated to a claim, PayPal will make a final decision in favor of the buyer or the Seller. You may be asked to provide receipts, third party evaluations, police reports, or anything else that PayPal specifies. PayPal retains full discretion to make a final decision in favor of the buyer or the Seller based on any criteria PayPal deems appropriate. In the event that PayPal makes a final decision in favor of the buyer or Seller, each party must comply with PayPal’s decision. PayPal will generally require the buyer to ship an item that the buyer claims is SNAD back to the Seller (at the buyer’s expense), and PayPal will generally require a Seller to accept the item back and refund the buyer the full purchase price plus original shipping costs. In the event a Seller loses a claim, the Seller will not receive a refund on his or her PayPal fees associated with the transaction. If you file a SNAD claim because the item you bought is counterfeit, we may request that you destroy the item"

And as the time to provide the 3rd party evaluation (authentication letter) is limited, you better get it quickly. Btw, they also asked me regularly to destroy the item before they refund.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
