Comparing A Pilot 845 And Metropolitan

Obviously these pens are in COMPLETELY different classes, but am I right to assume that the line widths will be about the same in the 845 and the Metro?

 

I plan on buying an 845 and want to make sure I'm happy with the width since this is a once-a-life time purchase.

I bought a Metro F and M to compare and I think I like the M better.

This is a good question. I think that you will definitely see a difference between the Metro and the 845. The Metro is a fairly small nib, about the same as Pilots standard size 5. The 845 is a size 15 nib and I believe that it is identical to the nibs on the Pilot 823 and 743, so if you check out writing samples from those models it should give you some idea of what you are looking for.

You can compare the Pilot 823 with the Pilot Metro and see how you like it. From what I can tell, the 823 Medium is a bit broader than the Metro Medium. Not really the same but it might be what you are looking for anyway. Hope that helps.

My experience is that Pilot's no.15 nibs and feeds are wetter writers, so you might experience a thicker line...

Thanks for the comments; it looks like the Metro M is a bit thinner than the 823 F.
