Attended the Orlando Pen Show, The Parker 51 Vac was on my to buy list. The 4 Sheaffers were impulse, they were all in bins and in sore need of some attention. New sacs in all of them and the green is waiting on a pressure bar from Pentooling.com. dipped the nibs and they all are good writers.20240908_062826.thumb.jpg.3f92f1dcee2d400202b2402ef2f3192d.jpg

Today's flea market pen yield was acceptable and a bit light...

Sheaffer Pen and Pencil set, w/ original box, (metal cap but not white dot) -14K Triumph nib) needs sac and J-bar

Morrison Traveler FP (gold colored nib looks very good and "F") needs sac and J-bar very nice chasing

Recife C/C FP w/ a tiger stripe cap and body

Vintage Waterman Purple ink bottle w/ label in VG condition

Even better was a friends "gift" yesterday of 40 new pens including:

PenBBS

Modern Conklin

Monteverde

Levenger

Kaco (1)

All NOS so they are clean and have converters!

My plan is to sell these at the Commonwealth Pen Show (very good prices for buyers) and give most or all of the money to the local food pantry. It's so much fun to give away money! And this, for me is a perfect way to do so. BTW, I also give a percent (usually 10% or more) of my Show income to non-profits.

BTW, I do consider myself lucky to have had the successes I have had in finding pens

I'll be at the Show next weekend so if anyone here stops by, please identify yourself for a free gift and/or a discount on any purchase.

I picked up an early(?) Parker BHR button filler  ring top with a gorgeous gold piece finial (please tell me the correct name for the gold cap that has the ring on it) and a nib that says “ Parker Lucky Curve 2” on it. Also a black radite lever filled Sheaffer R3-25SR ring top.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Sheaffer 100 Satin Blue M, Pelikan Moonstone/holographic mica

Parker T1, Dominant Industry Dominant Blue

MontBlanc 1441 F, Monteverde Brown Sugar

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

Thank you.

I took him out to dinner on Saturday and plan to do it again after the Show.

As I mentioned in an earlier posting (on this thread, I think), the pleasure of doing the donations, money and/or pens, last much longer (usually) than the enjoyment on my typical pen purchase or acquisition. YMMV, of course.

At the Show, we are going to have a "Pens for Kids" table to give away pens and ink (ink donated by YAFA/ Monteverde) along with filling instructions.

Not sure if this specifically qualifies because I did not just buy it, BUT...

Not sure if this, technically, qualifies BUT... here's the story.

I am getting ready for the Commonwealth Pen Show here in Boston this weekend and I am digging out lot's of long forgotten and stashed pens to sell at my table. Most of them were impulse buys  on the Bay or elsewhere.

Well, I pull out one of those small set of (3) drawers (6-7" high) and start going through it. That's when I found them... two pens, a

Platinum 3776 Chartres Blue w/SF nib and and old Cross Twist adjust grip ballpoint pen. Pretty much decided that I will keep both of them rather than sell them at the Show.

Here I am working at paring down my pen larder and pen clutter and now there are two more pens to add to my usage activities.

If I have violated the spirit of the thread, please let me know and I will delete the content of this post if I can.

I really had to share the experience and thought that it kind of fit here because it is an "acquisition", if not an actual purchase.

Thanks for read my story.

Sometimes it pays to go shopping in your own stash, @Gloucesterman; it happens to me with paper or clothing more than anything else.

Interesting thought. Thanks for the comment.

I have a  large number of NOS Osmiroid 65s and 75s along with several complete nib set (2 calligraphy & 1 sketch set, also NOS) that I am hoping to sell or trade. Also some Esterbrooks.

Wish me success.

I will probably post my results sometime next week if I get anything worthwhile.

You do?  My son in California might be interested in one or two.  I'll text him and then PM you.

Bought my wife a pen from Tom’s Studio this weekend at Dromgoole’s. Really interesting, came with 11 different nibs and is a two section pen that allows you to have a separate nib in each section. I haven’t taken a close look yet but she researched last night and what she told me was fascinating. We also had Kirk work on five miscreant pens. Like having 5 new pens because all were taken out of rotation shortly after they were acquired!

At the end of the Commonwealth Pen Show yesterday, as I was walking out the door, I spoke with John Corwin of "Flexi Nib Pens", and asked about the Magna Carta 600/650. Without going to the brief conversation, I ended up buying one of the "stacked tortoise" acrylic ones. I have seen several You Tube videos on both the 600 and the 650 and decided that I wanted one. Time and use will tell if it's right for me. As it is a larger pen, for me, I expect I will be using it mainly at my home desk. It's a bit much for MY shirt pocket - LOL.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
