I pulled the trigger on an Mib Platinum Curidas for 20 USD. Just couldn't resist 😉

Resistance was futile!

I usually buy the ink to justify the pen, but I love the Gos!  Enjoy.

Yeah, same here, but this pen was so affordable and seems like a nice addition to my ink journal to get a different nib size, so in my ink cart it went. I love my ECOs, have been curious about these awesome looking GOs.

Today's impulse acquisition (well, I should have it in my hand in about a week) is a Parker 61 Fighter.  Waited till almost the end of the auction and then bid the minimum.  It may need some nib work, and the seller wasn't sure if it worked -- but I know how to flush a capillary filler out....

Missing the hood arrow, sadly.  Hopefully there aren't any cracks in the hood either, but the seller accepts returns....

Of course tomorrow I'm probably going to have to fight with PayPal about them not accepting my JUST reset password (had to do the "we'll send you a one time code" thing instead -- but at least THAT worked...).

I almost bid on this one, but the missing hood arrow is what I like about the 61, and I wasn’t sure if that was something you could find parted out.

Top 5 (in no particular order) of 30 currently inked pens:

Parker Duofold Centennial IM, RO Rose Gold Antiqua

Parker Duofold Lady needlepoint, MB Cool Grey

Pelikan M800 needlepoint, Kuretake Shikon

Platinum PKB 2000, Platinum Cyclamen Pink

Waterman 52 EF, Herbin Bleu Pervenche

Nice find, though!

True, but but it's not the first 61 I have that is missing the arrow.  The fact that I got it for the minimum, AND it's a capillary fill Flighter, makes up for it.  I remember seeing a post a few years ago where someone took metallic paint to paint in a replica of the inlay arrow.

I have the tracking info now, and the ETA is Saturday.  Makes up for the Parker Vector Looney Toons "Taz" pen that I got outbid on earlier in the week -- and for not that much more than the hammer price on the Taz pen....

Oh that 9312 nib, drooling right now. I had impulsively ordered an Opus 88 Picnic pen from InkyPaws of Canada. Since then, I’ve found that people wait months to get an item, emails go unanswered, and it seems like something might be going on with the website. I hope it isn’t the health of the people who run the business. Why I’m posting is I’m thinking about trying to cancel the order. I used PayPal.

If I cancel it successfully, I’d use that money, and some more to get a Pilot Custom 74 with a B nib.

I've read somewhere (probably here) that it's nigh on impossible to replace the arrow.  I even have one here somewhere after I replaced an entire hood (with arrow) on one of my 61s.

I don't know how prevalent cracked hoods are but I've certainly had to replace a cracked barrel.  I've found that shrunken hoods are possibly more of a problem.

a Parker 61 Fighter.>

It was actually referred to as the "jet flighter." My father had one, and every letter he wrote to me when I was away at school or at camp was written with that pen. It was very appropriate for him; he flew jet fighters. I have it now and it is dear to me. Enjoy it, it's a great pen.

Interesting information (I don't have really have any "Flighters" in general).  And the story about your dad is pretty cool.  Also nice to have a family heirloom pen (I wish I hadn't lost the pen/pencil combo when I was a kid that had been my grandfather's -- the closest I have is my husband's grandfather's Sheaffer Balance Oversize).

I just got the USPS email update for the tracking, and it reached some distribution center in Illinois.  They've also pushed up the ETA for delivery from Saturday to Friday.

I had to send back the Pelikan M1000 I had ordered in August and get a refund. Not even the finest nib was dry enough for me. Indeed I like wet pens but to my taste this model is too wet. I have an MB 149 that writes dryer than the Pelikan. Too bad. I'll stick to my M600, M250 and M120 😊

I gave in and got a custom pen, from Giants Pens. Excellent pen makers located in the Netherlands. 😄

The pen should look like this, afaik:

Thanks, Teun, and I look forward to it. If I can get Anabelle of Opus Cineris to turn the nib into an architect, it's going to be perfect.

Pelikan nibs tend to run wet because they're designed for Pelikan ink, which is pretty dry.

My first Pelikan (1990s era M400 Brown Tortoise, with an F) was too wet for the ink I had originally planned to use in it, Iroshizuku Yama-guri (I had originally planned to use the pen for drawing).  But found that Noodler's Walnut, which is very dry, worked quite well (as does Edelstein Smoky Quartz).

Yesterday I gave in to the craving to buy -- something, anything -- and to some closeouts at Nibsmith. One wasn't enough, so I got two: a Lamy Dialog cc, and a Pelikan M605 in green and white. Both EF nibs, one nib on back-order, which Dan said would be filled in a couple of weeks.

The 61 Flighter actually made it my house by Thursday night (sadly, too late for me to bring it to the monthly Steel City Nibs meeting).  I spent a good chunk of Friday morning repeatedly flushing it and sticking the capillary filler into distilled water, because there is some sort of SUPER saturated black ink in it, and it took multiple rounds in order to actually get through my morning pages entry.  I contacted the seller to see if he had any clue what the ink was (I was worried that it was something like India ink, which is why I contacted the seller -- figured that if it had been something like a family heirloom he might know what the ink was) but he said he got it at an estate sale, so didn't know.  Haven't had a chance to compare the nib and hood opening to my other 61s, but it does write, so the curved up tines doesn't seem to be an issue.  Guessing it's maybe an F nib, but again not sure until I put it side by side with the other 61s.

My first 61 had so much ink in the capillary sponge that I wrote with it for something like three months before the ink got too diluted.  I must have flushed and filled this one eight or ten times in an hour and the ink is still super black. Probably NOT modern Quink Black, I'd say....  I dunno -- is there a Penman Black?  I've mostly only ever seen Penman Sapphire, although I know they made other colors.

This week was a bit strange, I decided to sell a few Lamy Safari special editions ( Extra ones I have Dark Lilac and Petrol) it took only 5 hours and both are gone. Very same night I found an 2018 all black from amazon and bought it right away. So collection had a movement. I am hoping to buy either a Lamy 2000 or a Pelikan Souveran ( M400 /M600 )

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
