At some point in all of these ink discussions, KWZI Azure #5 was likened to Parker Penman Sapphire (as has Bung Box Sapphire). In this review, it does look a little like PPS, but darker. I picked up a bottle of it at the Vanness table in DC, and if my life ever returns to a semblance of order, I will try it out. Right now, I'm going to look for the other discussion on Azure #5, which I think Amberlea wrote.

In the meantime, I'm glad I got a bottle of this. Thanks, gylyf, for this and all your other beautiful reviews.

My pleasure! I ordered my bottle on the strength of visvamitra's review. Mine seems darker (and, in general, greener than both PPS and BBS), but it's still a lovely ink, IMO.

You're right, it was Visvamitra who suggested the likeness between PPS and Azure #5. We may not ever achieve an exact match, due to all the other variables (nibs, paper, monitors, scanners, cameras, brains), but we certainly have an abundance of beautiful inks. If I never bought another bottle of ink, I could write happily for the rest of my life with what I have.

Another great review. Thank you. It really looks darker in your review. This week Konrad will give samples of all his azures so I'll check Azure % and compare it with the old sample that was reviewed some time ago. He's supposed to have Azure 7 which is even closer to PSP. We'll see :)

An enlightened perspective I'm trying, but failing miserably, to adopt!

Thanks, vis! I'll be really interested to hear about #7.

My favorite is #4, and it's much more purple. I totally love it, but it is darker than I remembered.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

"Darker than I expected, but really nice."

That's exactly what I thought when I first tried it :)

@I met Konrad and it seems Azure 7 and 6 are still work in progress. Time will tell :)

I'm always happy to see more blue inks (even if the names could you use a little bit of inspiration). :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally had a chance to try Azure #5 and got pretty much the same results you did. You will see when Amber scans and posts my CRV in the big PPS thread. I found it to be a good bit darker than Bung Box Sapphire.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
