To me it looks like Lamy Safari meets MB. Any bets on this making it to market?

Any bets on this making it to market?

Why? it's already been announced, it's not a matter of if, not even when, and Apple did not design the pen, a "famous" designer who joined apple in 2014 designed this pen in his name not in apple's name.

Edit: perhaps the bet should be if it'll succeed in the market :)

I didn't realise that it had a magnetic cap.

I think that's a brilliant innovation.

Automatic alignment built-in, too.

My first observations on this pen were pretty lukewarm, but this has warmed me to it.

Nice work!

If it's cartridge/converter only, though, I'd be disappointed.

(Do we still class them as fountain pens?)

Fingers crossed that the flat bit is a custom turning knob.

Enjoy.

I like it a lot but am eager for more information, particularly about the filling system and whether it is a resin barrel or resin-coated metal (as with the 1912).

Have heard that standard nib sizes are F and M. Hoping others will be available on request.

The magnetic cap is yet another total turn off. Why do companies keep making such silly products?

So you and I won't buy them, of course.

The section is what turns me off. What's up with that?

And the step down to the section and that pointless flat butt. What function does that serve?

I have spoken to a contact at MB. The pen is cartridge only (no word on whether it can take another brand's converter), resin body, and the MN nib will only be used for 2015.

US list price is $565, Europe €500 (inc VAT). Available early Sept.

I've stopped worrying about nib sizes about one year ago. :) I send my pens to Mike Masuyama and he makes my dreams come true. :)

I personally hate magnetic Cap.

Visconti uses them, and I bought one, that's is when I realized I hate them and why I would never buy another Visconti with a magnetic cap.

Who cares about automatic alignment, just another example of how lazy us humans have become.

While Mike can do amazing things, he can't turn a medium into a double broad!

True. Since I only like F and EF nibs, I forgot this part of the "problem". :)

I think they're marketing toward a younger target audience. Most of the "younger" members in my department at work are very enthused by the magnet caps on my Visconti pens.

I was wondering how a converter would fit. That answers the question. I hate cartridges. That's a deal killer for me, irregardless of whether I like the pen's appearance or not.
