Ahh, we’re on laws, here’s a pretty true one (not saying yours aren’t true, txomsy, in fact, Greers third law comes into play more often than I’d like), other than if you find yourself a good cheap vintage pen…

A quote regarding The Common Law of Business Balance - attributed to John Ruskin.

Pen: Eversharp Varsity (I love this lever filler with ink window and flex nib)

Ink: Pelikan Edelstein Apatite

How true!

Thanks, @P25B for your wonderful quote. One more to cherish.

And today's quote from an experimental Molecular Biologist

I'll be off to Denmark for the rest of the week (any suggestions?), so i thought I could just lump together a few quotes to make up for these days :)

Albert E. does have some great quotes!

Have a look for a Big Ben vintage pen if you have time to search in Denmark.  I haven’t been for many years, but used to love Copenhagen.  Have a great time there.

Hi, what is the pen on the left? Also what brand is the notebook? It looks interesting, and recycled too.

@txomsy ah Denmark. I was there in 1996 to see family, distant relatives.  The Little Mermaid really is that, little. We went to Lego Land. Also in Copenhagen to a casino with sound buffers lining the slot machine trays, and to Tivoli. Also toured a castle. For family matters, we saw a cemetery, and a place connected to ancestors.

Coincidentally, I’m watching Borgen, a Danish series about a female Prime Minister.

It is a chequered Chinese Baoer 79. A clone of the Montblanc Skywalker. i got it so I could fit an FPR flex nib (which I later EMF modified) on it.

The notebook is one made from recycled paper I was given at the booth of Puerto Rico in a convention. I.e. I can hardly give any reference about it, as it does not have any marks other than the recycled paper one and a "Discover Puerto Rico" on the front cover. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Added: In mines, the enamel in the section of these Baoer clones tends to become pitted with time. Cheapness comes at a price.

Thanks, I'll keep those on the watch. I'm not too tempted by Casinos, but if it is a historical building, it may tell a lot about local culture.

There is fantastic modern and historical architecture there. If you plan, you’ll be able to see all you want in the days you’ll have there.

My grandmother used to quote this, although I never knew her source. My understanding is that the saying was meant to contrast the philosophies of Hume and Berkeley.

Right you are, that one is absolutely in point here. I just wanted something to try the FPR flex nibs, and for that they were fit, or to give away. But as more cheap clones fail one way or another I am reconsidering the wisdom of the later use.

My mom worked her way through college as the lab assistant for the biology professor at her college, and she said one thing she learned was that the demo was ALWAYS supposed work -- no matter how you had to "rig" it....

OTOH, I remember reading an essay by Isaac Asimov, where he was in some chemistry or biology class in college, and the microscope slide did NOT appear to show what he thought he was supposed to be seeing. and said to, and got congratulated by the professor for actually reporting his results -- not what he THOUGHT the results were what he was supposed to be seeing.

I was there in the early 1980s (the last family trip abroad).  I went on the rollercoaster at Tivoli (just because I could) and went to the Commedia del Arte Theatre (not thinking that the performance would be in DANISH :headsmack: -- or that it would be more geared towards little kids).  And I remember seeing the throne room in the Royal Palace with the lion statues.

We also had a day trip (by ferry) to Malmö and Lund in Sweden.  Then, on the way home the plane, a Danish charter company, had some trouble with the hydraulic brakes, right after the refueling stop in Iceland, and had to turn around (dumping all that newly taken on fuel over the Atlantic in the process) and go back to Keflavik, rather than try to make it to Goose Bay, Labrador (the next refueling stop).  Ended up spending the night in Reykjavik but sat in the airport for several hours while they tried to figure out where to put a 707's load of stranded passengers....  My mom woke up in the middle of the night, looked to see what time it was, an then realized that she hadn't had to turn on the light to look at her watch (it was May when we were there).

Back from Copenhagen, I think we could make it to a decent number of amenities (Tivoli was closed in preparation for Christmas, though), and certainly had a great time. Thanks for all the advice.

Time for another change of register.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
