Pens With Inlaid Nibs....

There is just something incredibly attractive about pens with inlaid nibs. The Sheaffer Legacy for example, imo is one of the best looking pens ever.

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Carene, but what other choices are around?

Sheaffer for example seem to have a very limited range of inlaid nibs now.

The thing is, I prefer to buy new if I can - something still in current production.

Any pointers guy's?.....

Carene and Edison come to mind. You can still find new old stock Legacy II's out there. Targa's are pretty cool.

The Carene has an inset nib, meaning that the nib is glued to the section but can be detached. Inlaid nibs are co-moulded with the section material and cannot be detached without killing the section-Sheaffer. The other inset nib is the one found on the new Pilot Elite 95S, Namiki Silvern etc...

Thanks,

Just ordered the Carene (amber) through Amazon prime, so I may actually have that tomorrow..... :)

I just find it such a shame that companies discontinue such attractive models such as the Legacy and the Targa. Sheaffer were kind of known for inlaid nibs, but now most of their fp's are much of a muchness..... :(

I found some nos Legacy's....hmm, quite pricey! In saying that, they are rather beautiful, so may still have to get one.

There's a good selection on inlaid nibs from Sheaffer around if you are willing to go beyond the modern pens. I have a great PFM III that is a fantastic pen, and my son bought a NOS 330. I've got a couple more that I got off of eBay for a great price. Nothing wrong with a nice vintage pen, and the nibs on so many of them are just fantastic.

Cleo Skribent “Colour” series have nibs that has enamel accent. It is not a true inlay, but looks quite beautiful.
